That bastard should have got voluntary manslaughter with life in prison. You don't beat someone to death and get a slap on the wrist.

<< They're guesstimating 2-3 years. >>

I'd say thats appropriate. BTW, the son of the coach has publically said he forgives the guy already.

who cares if the son of the deceased forgives him, that is a child. Law will decide, that dude should get at least ten if it were up to me..... lucky for him its not.

involuntary manslaughter has a sentence of 10 years max. The majority are less than 5 yrs.

If both the father and the son of the dead guy forgive Junta, does that mean they both know they guy had a rage problem, and started fights?

for those of you that "think" it was under self-defense. i think thats just a joke.

first off, did he (the murderer) have any reasonable reason in defending himself? (him being over the weight size by 100 i believe)

and second, did he use reasonable force in resisting the "attacker?"

This is EXACTLY why we have juries - those of us who have just read about a case in the media are not qualified to answer these kinds of questions. You were not there and have no idea whether or not his behavior was reasonable, or whether he acted in self-defense. The fact of the matter is that the jury has the sole authority to decide these things, and they have done so.

the general penalty in the state is 3-4 years for involuntary, and 7-8 years for voluntary with a maximum of 20 years for each.

with parole he will probably be out in 2 years though

After reading exactly what involuntary manslaughter means, I think he got the exact penalty he deserves.

That's exactly what I thought and hoped he would be convicted of. Kudos to the jury and our judicial system. Now if only we could wipe away the bad taste trials like the OJ Simpleton trial have left in America's collective mouths.

that was the verdict i expected them to bring so i'm not surprised. whether or not it is a just sentence i have no idea; i haven't followed the case too closely.
