Verifying a HT-capable P4 CPU without opening the case.

Is it possible to distinguish a P4 3.2Ghz from a P4 HT 3.2Ghz processor without opening the computer case?

In all the Hyperthreading-capable P4 WinXP systems I've seen, in Device Mangler there are TWO CPUs listed.

I think that would appear ONLY if you have both an HT-enabled P4 and an HT-ready mobo though (i865 and later chipsets).

if you dont see two graphs in Windows Task Manager go into your bios and make sure HT is enabled

You can also download THIS utility from Intel. It's a hyper-threading test utility. Presumabely if HT isn't enabled or you don't have it then your computer will fail the test.

All P4's at 3ghz or more are HT enabled..all that have 800mhz FSB are HT enabled. The only 533fsb P4 with HT is the 3.06ghz..
