I've been visiting the verizon website and going to the store to try and get a deal on the new Motorola T720. The new price is down to $149.99 with a two year contract and $179.99 with a 1 year contract. You can also get a $100 MIR for turning in your existing working phone. So you could potentially get the phone for only $49.00 - 79.99!! I just got back from the verizon store and even though my existing contract is up they were unwilling to budge on the giving me a 1-year contract instead of 2-year if I get the rebate. Has anyone successfully sealed the deal with the rebate with a 1 year contract? Are they willing to negotiate contract terms as well? I think I should get free mobile web for being such a good customer.

Go to radioshack. They have the T720 for $149 and the $100 MIR for a total of $49. No need for a 2-year contract.

Someone needs to do their math.

Link for the math impaired.

99 dollars after a 100 dollar MIR.

I also have been reading that the battery life on this phone is horrid. Not trying to crap just want you guys to know what your getting.

The price of the phones for Verizon varies by region. The price of T720 in the Western States (AZ, CA, NV, NM, etc...) is the following:

1 year contract = $179.99 no rebate
2 years contract = $149.99 - $100 rebate = $49.99

The best way to determine what's the current price of the phone in your area is by going to Verizon Wireless website and entering your ZIP code.

I hope this helps,

I just traded in my Timeport for this phone. Paid $149.99 with $100 rebate once they receive my old phone. Verizon gives you a pre-paid envelope to mail it in....What a waste of time and money...just give me the cash! The 720 is nice with loads of features. By the time I figure them all out I'll need a new one. Had to re-up for 2 years but around my area Verizon has the best service so no big deal.

I don't see why everyone is going with the two year contract!!! Check out the rebate
here It doesn't say you have to have a 2-year contract.
Please tell me somebody hasn't been sucked into a 2-year contract!!!

Seems to me the regular price of the T720 can be $ 299.99; it's reduced, but in order to get any reduced price, you need a 2yr contract; the $ 100 rebate is an additional benny, but really separate. Read the fine print on the Radio Shack website.

By the way, I should add that I have Motorola T720 myself (through Verizon) and this phone rocks! ;-)

If you get this phone, shop around for any "extras"; Verizon's prices for almost everything, e.g. batteries, etc. are at "list" & overpriced....try

I'd like to hear usability details from anyone who has it. Reception, build quality, etc? I've looked at it and I'm tempted to say the v60 series phones look a little sturdier but I haven't gotten to play around with either long enough to really make a positive guess.

edit: The phone I'm using now is a smartphone with a broken lcd...I hope they'll give me a rebate. Its broken..but working

130 minutes of talk time seems to be pushing to the low end too....hmmmm

At CNET, go here and read the review, specs, etc. & many user comments, too....

CNET

BTW, Verizon's website has a "compare" feature for the phones they sell / use....

Try it.......

Watch out with this phone. Alot of people are bringing them back to Verizon. Rumors are that Verizon may be doing away with this phone because of all the problems. That is why they keep dropping the price. I had one for 2 weeks and brought it back. The battery life is horrible. I heard that the ATT version of this phone is much much better probably because it is a GSM version. If you want to check out some opinions go here link

wasn't the problem because of the software in the phone? I read that if you take it to a Verizon store with software upgrading tools they'll either upgrade the software or give you a new phone. But I think most of the phones out now already has the new software so it wouldn't be much of a problem.

have you seen at&t's gsm coverage map? a pin would be too big to point at an area..

i've had the verizon t720 for 2 weeks now with no problems. i ordered an extended-life battery 25% off from www.verizonwireless.com/edeals and it can last a looong time. i agree that verizon's phones always seem inferior to others' but the one absolute fact that i've observed is verizon beats all when it comes to reception and reliability.

I got the rebate with the 1 year contract. I got the phone 2 days after it came out tho luckily I had an LG phone which I sold on ebay to some sucka for 160 bux and the 100 dollar rebate as well. The upgrade fee of 30 dolalrs that radio shack tried to charge me I talked them out of. I said verizon isn't and I can get the same deal there so do you want my commission or not =). the guy was really nciye so he waived it.

340-160-100 = 80 bux

Good Luck

In California, Verizon's coverage is certainly best in the state, with AT&T a distant second. I miss my verizon service... sadly I had to switch to AT&T cause they offered me a plan I couldn't refuse

I have this phone, got it with the $100 rebate, 1 yr. renewal, and a $100 credit for loosing my old phone.

I got the extended life battery, and I'm not having a problem at all re: battery life. Not sure what the original battery would be like. But from what I read, the upgrade was worth it.

I agree with gpthurston, don't let them pressure you into a two-year contract, read the terms, it's not in there.
