I didn't say anything about radioshack.com, I said radioshack. The in-store price is $199 - $50 IR - $100 MIR w/trade-in. The $50 instant rebate just started a few days ago. Also, It does not require a 2 year contract. If you want a better deal wait until next Tuesday, there will be a %10 discount on most stuff in the store when paid for with a RS credit card only on tuesday. The 10% comes off the $199 price for a total of $29.99 for the T720 with a 1 year contract.

>Someone needs to do their math.
>
>99 dollars after a 100 dollar MIR.

Northern VA area - I recently left AT&T for Verizon and have never been happier. Im having absolutely none of the issues I used to have with AT&T. Verizon seems to have a much better network. I bought 2 of the V60 phones for 49 bucks each after rebate.

I've had verizon for 5 years now and went in to do the new every two. and got 2 t720 for my wife and I. final cost is 0$
they give you 100$ credit towards a new phone, which made the t720 99$ each then we each got a 100$ mail-rebate
for sending the old phones back to motorola. Did have to renew for 2 years thought but I've been happy with them
so I don't plan on switching.
$199
$199
-$100 credit
-$100 credit
-$100 trade in rebate
-$100 trade in rebate
-------
-$2 (woohoo)

I have an old Motorola Flip phone circa 1999. Dont remmeber the model number but it was digital capable. I think it was one of the first phones that was digital. Could i use this as the mail in phone for my rebate and keep my trusty StarTac ???????

Just got in on the deal. I only got the one-year contract at Radioshack and they still gave me the phone for $149.99 - $100 rebate. However, I believe the one-year contract requires a $35 setup fee by verizon.

Anyways, got rebate form and everything, but I didn't get a pre-paid envelope to ship my trade-in phone to them.

According to Rickwaver below, Verizon should be giving out these pre-paid envelopes. Is that correct? Anyone else get these envelopes?

I just traded in my Timeport for this phone. Paid $149.99 with $100 rebate once they receive my old phone. Verizon gives you a pre-paid envelope to mail it in....What a waste of time and money...just give me the cash! The 720 is nice with loads of features. By the time I figure them all out I'll need a new one. Had to re-up for 2 years but around my area Verizon has the best service so no big deal.

well i finally got the phone!! I love everthing about it. It's geek-friendly: allows me to change every conceivable setting and more. I went with the 1 year contract and paid $30 more for that privilege but I think it's worth it since new phones and plans are always coming out and I can proably sell the phone in a year on ebay for a good price. Don't let those verizon sales peeps tell you you have the go with the 2-year contract in order to get the rebate! And don't let tem charge for activation. Just go to another store like i did.

Might want to ask the verizon people for a good customer discount. Because I've always paid my bill on time
I got this phone for 21 dollars after tax and rebate. Good Luck!

edit: The phone I'm using now is a smartphone with a broken lcd...I hope they'll give me a rebate. Its broken..but working

130 minutes of talk time seems to be pushing to the low end too....hmmmm

My friend has this phone and she likes:
-the friendly user interface
-memory for 32 custom ringers
-cool UI animations
-voice activated dialing
-40 note polyphonic ringers
-will accept ringers in MIDI format, no need to convert to SMAF

She dislikes:
-battery life REALLY sucks, this is her biggest complaint
-even though it's a TFT screen, it does not look as nice as Samsung S105 (another friend has this one)
-the UI is overlayed on the wallpaper ALL THE TIME, there's no way to disable that...so you can hardly see your custom wallpapers
-not as customizable as the Samsung phones

If she had to do it again, she'd wait for the Samsung V205 coming out in January.

hope this helps!

Just got 2 of these phones for 49.99ea after the rebate at a Verizon store. Had to re-up for 2 years but no biggie since you can change your plan at any time if they come out with better offers... (you are just a Verizon customer for 2 years)

The phone is great and noticably better than my Motorolla v120. The battery life is a bit short (about 4 days on a charge) but I always have the option of buying a bigger battery.

The phone has lots of features that I haven't even used yet and everyone I show it to thinks it's cool. For 49.99 I'm not sure what the debate is... I could have gotten a much crappier phone for that price. I think they reduced this phone so much because of competition from T-Mobile. If they were going to discontinue the phone I would think they would stop selling weeks ago as opposed to having to provide warranty support for 1 year on so many phones sold at such a cheap price.

I got in on this deal. this phone for me is an extraordinary deal since verizon in this area really does have the best network and the phone isd a workhorse. Immediate access to the phonebook is crucial for me. i got the bigger battery though - now I have at least 2 days even under heavy use conditions - over 4 days light use/stand-by. pick it up with a 25% discount and the extra $44.99 is well worth it. Even at about $100 for the whole deal it's a great deal.

The $100 rebate is only available for 2-year service agreement.

IMHO, 2 years is a long long time in the cellular market. Within 6 months, I bet you'll hate the T720 cos its size.

I got this deal... but this is some useful info...

- The phone comes with no games on VZW... they disable the ones that Motorola includes... the only way to get games is to buy/lease them from VZW Get it now service.

- Same with ringtones, can't download/upload them except via GIN, which they have varying pricing plans for... all those free ones on the net will do you no good with VZW.

- You can't use your own images as wallpaper/screensaver - they've disabled that. The only way to view pic (again, can't save it to the phone) is to go online with one of the pic services that you can subscribe to via monthly $ via GIN and view pics online (while using your minutes).

- You can't download/run apps - again they're only available via GIN. So you can't develop/test little apps that you write or find for free on the net.

It's a cool phone, but pretty much crippled by VZW...

I just went from Sprint to Verizon and got this phone. My first was absolute junk. I couldn't believe how bad it was. I went back and traded it for a new T720. Both of them had version 19c software. The second one is better, but still not great.

- User Interface is the model for now NOT to design a UI. I have a 2 year old phone that has a better UI than this. It's completely ridiculous and backwards.

- It is also SLOW. Takes time to move from one line to another.

- It has bugs. It's rebooted on me. The ringer only begins to ring 4 seconds after the vibrate starts. The screen turns on by itself sometimes, draining the battery.

- The vibrate is too weak to feel. I work in sometimes loud conditions, so vibrate is essential for me. I have yet to feel the vibrate on this phone while it is in my pocket.

- Sound quality is not as good as my old phone on Sprint. I don't know if this is the phone's fault or Verizon's.

Anyway, I'm going to take this back and get the Samsung. If that doesn't work any better, back to Sprint I go (uggggg).

Is the $100 rebate really only available for 2 year service agreements? I just got the one year at Radioshack, and the rebate form for $100 printed out from the register.....

Anyone fill out the rebate form and submit your old phone yet? Did anyone include the charger and other miscellaneous items that usually come with a phone? The rebate form only states phone and battery specifically as far as I can tell.....

Or you could get the T720i with T-Mobile from Amazon.com for $50 AR when you get a $35+ plan, or for $100 AR when you get a lesser plan.

I am using the similar V270c for over a year and I must say that I do love it's user interface. It is clean and can be custimized without too many gadgets. In order to get the T720 to act similar to the V270 you may have to set up some things a little different on this phone:

First off do not use the icons, but use line oriented display.
Second do not use any backgrounds.
Also, the use of the screensaver is questionable.

With the above adjustmnents speed should improve quite a bit
Not sure about the vibrator, but I think it has several different ring delays that can be customized just dig in the menu or read the manual.
Sound quality and reception I find very good - right on with the V270 - if that's an issue it may be the carrier. OTOH I have had in 7 years with verizon only about a dozen dropped calls, however this again may be different where you use the phone.

Finally regarding the downloads I am wondering whether you can "try" the GIN service, get what you need and then drop it again.

I got the T720i through Amazon...$50 AR. This phone is great and T-Mobile's customer service is A++. I had AT&T and Cingular for my business cell's and can not believe the difference in customer service. T-Mobile's coverage is great in the Southern California and Nevada areas...much fewer droped calls too. If you are not use to a smaller phone, you may not like it. I jumped the AT&T ship at the right time...

Unfortunately, I had a v60 until a few months ago when I lost the stupid thing on an airplane. Anyways, it was the first week that the T720 was out in verizon, and I picked one up for a whopping $349 (I know, it hurts... it hurts very badly). Anyways, I don't really find that the battery life is a big problem, I just charge it at night, and keep a travel charger in my car in case. If ur not playin bowling for like an hour at a time, it is not really that big of an issue. Love the phone, hated ungodly amount of money I payed for it.

I went into my local Verizon store here in CT, and inquired about this phone, since I saw the ad's for it being $150, with a $100 mail in rebate. Well, the associate said that ended after Christmas, now the phone is $179, but still has the $100 rebate. I told him I wasn't going to pay that much for it, he in not so many words agreed and told me about 3 times to wait until after the new year to see what deals they were going to have for this phone. So, my guess is that the phone will again drop in price. I'll wait until I get my tax refund and see what's going on with it then.

I believe the current Verizon promotions end on the 12th, and supposedly the new promotions will start soon afterwards, according to a Verizon rep. I talked to in-store. I decided to hold out, tho' I did like the 400 peak min. for $39.99 plan.

Have had this phone for nearly a month now. Battery life is as advertised, but buy yourself a freakin' car charger, and charge it every night, and kwityerbelyakin.

Other than that, love this phone. Love the mobile web. Was at a high school basketball game tonight, and was checking the score of the Indiana/Ohio State game the whole time. If you want the mobile web, call CS up and tell them that you had someone tell you that they would give you a month free, and they will do it. Don't know if it is worth the $7 yet, but at times, it is really nice.

Great phone. My first cell phone since this one six years ago, so don't have anything to compare it to, but love it so far.

What part of the country are you in? I looked in today's Sunday paper, and here they still have advertised the $175-$100 mail in rebate, AND you have to trade in another digital phone. Way too much hassle.
Btw, I have that same plan, 400 peak @ $39.99. If you get that plan, make sure you also get unlimited nights/weekends. That wasn't offered when I signed up for that plan last year. I'll make them give it to me when I finally upgrade to the T720 when it's offered at a reasonable price.
