If you have a broadband router, you don't need to use ANY software.
The router automatically connects for you. You just have to set it up on the router.

what's the speed for the $34.95?
I have covad at 384K/128k for $39.95.
Looks like I may just switch over to Verizon.

Do they just upgrade your current line or do you have to cancel and reorder?

That's the way I have it set up. Screw that PPPOE dialer crap. I suggest to anyone (even when we are setting up DSL for our employees) to get a router and let it do it's thing. A whole lot less heartache and home routers these days are so easy to set up and maintain.

I just called Verizon and I've been told that my line doesn't qualify for the 1.5M speed upgrade... but I got my monthly rate reduced from $39.99 to $34.99... DSLreports.com CO distance finder shows only 4152 ft from my CO.... I told that to the rep and asked why I couldn't get the 1.5M speed. She asked me if I had any changes made on my phone line. I said no and she couldn't tell me why I couldn't get 1.5M. I know I can get 1.5M speed here because my friend who lived nearby(100 feet) had 1.5M/384K Verizon DSL last year.
Any suggestions?

Only thing i could think of is to ask to have a tech check your loop for you. They might do it, they might not. Doesn't hurt to ask.
