Verizon DSl and good router?

I have Verizon DSl and I want to get some router(No expensive). Can someone gove me and advice , Where can I buy it and how much it costs?

I believe Verizon does PPPoE right? You can get one of those routers from a lot of places online. I'd head over to the Hot Deals forum and fine a good deal on a router. I have the SMC Barricade and it's a great router. It has a print server and fall back support for dial-up modem in case your DSL fails. These routers will usually run from $60-$90. If you can find a good deal on one, jump on it. Hope this helps.

I subscribe to Verizon DSL and I use the Linksys router. It works great and I have never had a problem.

I just installed a Linksys 4 port router on my verizon DSL tonight . So far it's working great !

I have one Verizon DSL installation with Netgear, another with SNC barricade, both work very well.

For regular Internet use, it really does not make any differences.

This week the cheapest is Belkin in CompUSA.

However, there are some minor differences between Routers in the way, and the number of ports that can be handle to by pass the Firewall,.

This is an issue to gamers, and people who do extensive use special programs that use unopened ports.

If you are in the latter category, you have to choose according to your needs.

I think the RT314 by Netgear may have been disconinued. I bought mine for 60 or 70 dollars when they were introducing the new model. RP314 I think.

Linksys router

Do any of you who use Verizon DSL and a linksys router have problems where you get disconnected every so often, and you need to manually reconnect by going into the router configuration and clicking connect? It is extremely annoying. I have the "keep alive" choice selected and it seems to work most of the time, but it will still disconnect every 3 - 4 days.

If anyone has had this problem and has found a solution please share. Thanks!!

I have the SMC router SMC7004BR, it was when amazon had them for 90bux with a 50bux mir. I had problems with the router in the beginning, after a firmware upgrade, and a call to verizon. it was pretty solid. The latest firmware upgrade was awesome, after that upgrade, i have recorded over 1000hr straight of uptime.
