Verizon FIOS requires overclocking your computer

Look at the "Front Side Bus" recommended speeds for the faster services. They apparently endorse overclocking, since I don't think Intel has an official 400Mhz FSB speed already.

Verizon is talking about 400 mhz period. QX9770 has a 1600 fsb (400x4). Even a celeron should be enough to handle the faster speeds of FIOS.

Eh, so there's a mistake on their web site. Some techie either felt like showing off, or didn't know what he was talking about. (Probably both.)

Most of Verizon's customer support staff won't even know what FSB is/means if asked, nevermind any customers.

amd doesn't have an fsb, 400mhz x5 is their ht speed iirc, however. It's been awhile since I've gotten to play with an amd...

It's 200Mhz x 5 x 2. The 2000Mhz is counting the transfers both ways. It's actually 1000Mhz (200Mhz x 5) in each direction.

They are talking about quad-pumped old intel pentium 4, so the matched memory would only run at 100mhz But yeah, I agree they have no fucking idea what they are talking about. Listing FSB is just unnecessary..

I love my 15/2 FIOS, but admittedly, at least half of the people who work for them couldn't find a USB port in a room full of USB hubs. I used to have 30/5, but it was going to waste, so I "cut back" to 15/2.

IM'mhappy with my 100/10 connection, upload is closer to 12-13Mbps though.

In a few years we will get upgraded to 1000/100.

Obviously they are talking about effective clock speed. 400MHz came and went 6 or 7 years ago on the intel side.
