You haven't, but the target market for the iPhone (Apple users and the teens->mid 30's crowd) most likely have.

While your "well just send it in an email" comment is the typical response I always got when I would bring it up to iPhone lovers, it still falls flat on it's face. The reason why it doesn't hold up is because most people don't have phones with email support. So, that means that if I want to send a funny pic to my friend, then they have to go to a computer and login to their email. Conversely, if a friend wants to send me an MMS they can't send it to my phone which means the only way they can get it to me is to put it on a memory stick, transfer it to a computer, and then email it.

As for the cut and paste, it's not that complicated and they seem to have figured it out a few years later (once they put their mind to it).

I've honestly received grand total of about 5 MMS messages over the 10 years I've had a cell phone.

I can't imagine why MMS or cut and paste wasn't included until recently - my best guess is that apple just hasn't had time to get that feature in the earlier release.

Not a high priority. I've yet to use MMS or cut and paste with my iPhone.

I'm curious as to how you use your phone.

MMS support can be a "low priority", but it depends on the crowd. I know I send and receive a few a month usually. Not a ton, but enough.

Cut and paste I use all the time on my Blackberry. With a phone like the iPhone (or in my case the Touch) I find cut and paste functionality very useful. Maybe I'm not the norm, but I'd imagine I'm not.

As far as the device goes, they are definitely playing catch up. It looks like it has potential, but it's still just a device. it will be cahnged and be better and faster in a year. So will the iPhone. The service on the other hand is much slower to change.

Persoanlly, I hate iPhones. Not because I don't like the phone, but because ATT is absolutely terrible. For Apple to hop into an exclusive relationship with ATT is beyond comprehension. If Verizon ever carried an iPhone, everyone would buy the damn things. For the record, I live in the mega-opolis of Chicago and travel for work all the way up into central WI. ATT (and therefore my email and phone access) are next to worthless. For work, I am now on US Cellular. I typically use my personal Verizon phone for work.

In the end, it's a phone. If you can't make calls, frequesntly drop calls, or can't get your corporate email, the device is pontless. I'll be more than happy to play with whatever iPhone knock-offs are aailable on a Verizon network. I think until Apple decouples from crappy service, competitors will keep chipping away. No one is invulnerable, so quit being a fan-boi and realize that there are alternatives out there for people who want something more than a neat (OK, pretty damn neat) TOY. "Tricks are for kids"

I use MMS on my Nokia smart phone all the time. I send pics to family and they send to me.

I think I'm going to have to sell my iPhone 2G (unlocked on T-Mobile) for one of these. I am really tired of relying on Edge, and I refuse to go to AT&T. I really love my iPhone, but the network is really more important to me.

So will the Motorola Droid be successful? Absolutely, we think. It will eat in to BlackBerry sales, Windows Mobile sales, and positively murder any lingering Palm Pre sales. It?s that good. Did you notice how Verizon still hasn?t announced the BlackBerry Storm2?

I don't predict a lot, but I have the feeling BB's going to abandon even the moniker Storm in another year.

Can't wait for a GSM version of the Driod on TMobile, come on TMobile...

I got to play with the Droid today. Although I doubt I'll ever go back to Android, it's a pretty sleek phone. The screen is the best screen on a mobile phone. Period. It seems to be built very nicely as well. It's got a nice solid thick feel to it. I can't say much for Android 2.0, as I didn't get enough time with it to really analyze the OS, but since it still lacks multiple non-Gmail push e-mail accounts, it's a total dealbreaker for me.

And Storm2 is launching on Wednesday, the 25th. Guaranteed. In case anybody was wondering.

I have no problem with Android (other than the stupid iDon't ads). My point in this thread is that Java performance is not up to par, especially on smartphones, and nobody has proven me wrong.

meh, at least those contain actual facts.

Heres a good article about the droid. This is for all you fanboys on each side of the argument.

http://www.techcrunch.com/2009...t-not-want-the-iphone/

But let?s be clear: Not even Verizon views Droid as an iPhone killer. And that?s because it?s not. Instead, it?s likely to be the best device running Android yet ? until the next best one comes out in a few weeks or months. Android is all about being everywhere. Again, that?s why it?s a Windows Mobile and Symbian killer, not an iPhone killer. And Verizon knows it, despite their ads.
