i knew it wasn't going to last forever, but still, the price increase shocked me. guess it was in the news but i didn't hear about it.

now trying to decide whether to keep unlimited data at 90$ even though i only use a gig or 2 per month, or if i should switch to a cheaper plan.

I thought the whole point of grandfathered was it doesn't change?

Mine won't change until next September. At which time I'll go from $24 to $40/mo for the data portion.

Yes for the term of the contract. Anyone ( inckding me) still on a unlimited plan is defo out of the terms of the contract meaning that VZW can do anything they want now,

Meanwhile, T-Mobile just added video (Netflix, HBO, Hulu, etc) to it's "doesn't count towards your data use" list, like they did with music a few months ago (Pandora, Google Play, etc).

Yep... T-Mobile is offering a pretty good proposition.

I really boned myself.

Did the Best Buy Method to upgrade my UDP line, except those Verizon wankers closed that loophole on the 15th unbeknownst to me. So when I activated the new phone, it kicked me off unlimited.

Returned the phone today and canceled my contract, and put in an inactive pricing request with Verizon. At best I'll get my unlimited back, but will have to pay the $20/mo extra from here on out. Or I won't get it back period. Fuck.

For the first time in like 6 years I actually have to watch my data. No streaming vids, music whatever until this is sorted. Sucks.

Just don't cancel your Verizon. There are plenty of people willing to pay you for it either as a rental or buy it outright (if you can still transfer ownership).

If you're not using it, then don't bother paying for it. I gave up unlimited data because I realized I don't need it. Took the $200 phone upgrade at the time instead of paying full retail for the phone.

Not worth it anymore.

I've been on limited data for the longest time, and I never go over. Unless you stream netflix on your phone - and watching movies/shows on your tiny fucking phone is stupid in of itself... I highly recommend dumping it.

Huh, I thought they were adding to their network... not reducing it. I was just starting to consider giving them a shot but that part scares me.

Look into Pageplus, Straight talk, and others that just resell national connections cheaper.

I have been using Pageplus for 3 or so years now. They use verzion towers.

I dumped my unlimited Verizon line for ATT when ATT gave me $1500 to switch my three lines. Haven't really missed it yet. And I've yet to pay an bill with ATT in three months, and still have $700 credit left.

Data seems awfully expensive just for the privilege of it being transmitted wirelessly. I mean $90 just for a gig or two a month? It's apples and oranges I know, but Comcast gets a bad wrap for limiting people to 300 gigs a month for half that. I guess I'm just shocked at the jump from internet in the house to in the car.
