Still a major downgrade for anyone on the old unlimited plans, but if you joined the party late, might be worth investigating.
in just a year, VZW has become a total scam, i got my droidx on a one year contract with unlimited data.
Now everything is two year, and tiered data plans.

That's just how duopolies work, everyone should hope the feds ultimately block the T-Mobile purchase. Regional carriers and MVNOs in the industry certainly have to compete on price.maybe not, but then the next logical extension is the entire wireless industry is a scam.

How is that a scam? If you agreed with the terms then you are getting exactly what you contracted for.
Cost has nothing do with price in a free market economy. These guys are not here to provide a convenience for us, they are here to make money - as much as possible. If you don't like it then don't buy it - if enough people agree and cancel their service the price will come down.

Yes it's a free market, and yes everyone works to make a profit, but conversely, consumers are free to point out when I or any other customer is getting lubed and bent over so buyers can make better informed decisions.
If the auto industry worked like this, people would be buying accords and camrys for 40K on a 20K invoice, and the outcry would be enormous.

Yes, that is exactly right - the price of a product or service has nothing to do with what it costs. Price is based on what the consumer will pay and nothing else.
Don't you think that Honda and Toyota would work on 200% (or 500% for that matter) margin if they could get away with it? You are free to offer whatever service or product you like at whatever cost you can get away with just as I am free to tell you that I will go elsewhere or elect not to take the service.
You are only getting lubed if you elect to take the service. If you don't like then don't buy it. It's all about choices. There are budget mobile services out there - you are free to use them.
