About time Verizon brings back unlimited data. This is how every phone plan should be: unlimited data.

I never understood why people got suckered into tiered data for some shiny new phone at $199+tax. Tier data is the biggest %cking scam. Data is data. They are just a pipeline. Not enough pipeline? Build more pipeline or lose customers. Weak sauce.

This. And every time in the past we've had this discussion, some apologist shows up to say how it would cost the carriers too much money, how people would abuse the system, blah blah blah. And every time there's even an ounce of competition added to the game, we see the carriers are actually capable of providing better service options and plans while still maintaining (or even growing) healthy profits.

All the providers know we are sick of paying upwards of $100/mo for the privilege of using our smartphone on their network and jacking us with their tiered data plans. I'm not ready to go back to the Moto RAZR days (ahhhh.....flip!), but seriously, my phone is now part of my daily life. They're going to have to find a way to keep us on the hook without asking us to pay monthly bills we really can't afford. Just like satellite/cable TV.....

Looks like AT&T retaliates with an unlimited data plan (without DirectTV). Meh, why are these carriers capping data at 22-28 GB? I consider myself a heavy user, and I don't go past 5 GB (and that's when I'm on vacation/business). I'm considering of downgrading my plan (AT&T, 6 GB + rollover data). These plans continue to get more expensive, and for no damn good reason.

Actually, AT&T tried to retaliate but failed. Their unlimited data plan (like the one that was associated with DirecTV) doesn't allow tethering or mobile hotspot. Their plan is by far the worst. I'll be looking at switching to another carrier soon.

Yep, I'm also looking at switching from AT&T. I buy unlocked Android devices, and AT&T doesn't allow for VoLTE/WiFi calling for unlocked devices (except a few exceptions). I'm thinking T-mobile

If you do the promotion make sure that it is what you want to do. I found out the hard way. The promotion is where if you trade in a phone you get a certain phone for free (they have a chart). I went to switch and traded my att LG G5 phone for a google pixel 32 GB. Amazing phone, however, when I signed up and asked about the work discount the rep told me yes it is applied on there. It was only a day or two later I found out you didn't get it so I went to take the phone back and cancel the account, since it was before the 14 day return period. They took it back and canceled with no problem, however they would not give me back my LG G5 or any reimbursement for it. They said they send the phones off the day they get them and I was out of luck. I called numerous times and was told I was out of luck each time. So just make sure if your switching and do the promotion that is what you want to do.

T-Mobile is fighting back hard on these deals.

I am currently on Googles Project Fi, paying around $45 a month with a Pixel XL 128GB. I was checking out Verizon's and Tmobiles websites yesterday to see if either had any enticing offers. Turns out T-Mobile does; Switch to T-Mobile and bring a Pixel or Pixel XL with you and they'll give you $325 in bill credits over 24 months. Also offering $150 per line in a prepaid MasterCard for each line you switch over. With the bill credits I will be paying $56 a month for unlimited data, talk and text. I love how Tmobiles new plans include all the taxes and fee's already, so what you see is what your bill will be. I already use T-Mobiles towers with Project Fi so I know the service will be good. Can't wait!
