Since the Moto X looks to be an utter failure, what phone will you be going to next?

I personally have a Galaxy Nexus and I may jump ship to Team Apple, since I want to keep my unlimited data, I'd have to shell out 500 dollars for a new android phone, might as well get an iPhone

I'm also considering a used Android phone, maybe a N4?

Agreed.

A few of my friends have S4s now, and playing with an S4 side-by-side with my One, there's nothing substantially better about the S4. You pay more for the S4 in most cases, especially if you are getting a new microSD just to match the One's 32GB.

The S4 you should get if you want a big battery like Zero Lemon's 7,500 mah one, but there are also external batteries that will work with most phones with even larger capacities. If you absolutely need more than 32GB the S4 is a clear choice.

I much prefer having aluminum body (I go caseless), front facing speakers that are exceptional for a phone, better low light camera shots, more onboard storage (25 GB free versus the pathetic 10 GB in entry model S4), Sense 5 which is practically as fast as GPe and with less feature-bloat than TouchWiz, 468 DPI on a beautiful LCD display, genuinely useful camera features like Zoes and Highlights, the $25 play store credit (don't know if that promo is still on), and a really good infrared sensor and universal remote app (S4 has one, too).

But you should definitely get the S4 if you want to wave at your phone. (don't get angry at me making fun, blame the hundreds of millions of dollars Samsung spent marketing that feature)

I ponied up for an iPhone 5 at the start of the year. I don't know if the next iPhone will be anything worth switching up for so I might be set for a while. Time will tell!

S4 is a little too large for me, no other androids really have my interest yet.

Moto X and I will be buying used. I have been waiting for the always listening Google now feature I am glad someone actually did it. If I don't like it I can switch to another phone easily. I am hoping it being Motorola will have cheap second hand price. Everyone wants a Galaxy or iPhone so those two phones are always terrible buys in the used market. I don't see anything wrong with the Moto X as long as I can get a cheap one. If people continue to be turned off by moto x there is a better chance for low resale value. I also really like kevlar back especially if Kevlar wraps around the back. Fingerprint free, soft touch and tough.

Life of verizon unlimited data goes on....sigh...

Chin311: can you tether for free with iPhone5 and unlimited Verizon data?

Officially no. Tethering is only included with share everything plans. Tell me OP, how are you going to use an N4 with Verizon?

I have a nexus as well and I was thinking the same thing with an iPhone. Either that or if I can get an HTC one for cheap.

I know you can't tether officially. However you can unofficially with foxfi which I rely on during travel. I was just curious if there is a work around for iPhone.

Since I'm coming using a droid bionic currently I may look into a samsung GS3 if the price is low enough.

Love my Lumia 928, having fun learning all the ins and outs of Windows 8 phone. Looking forward to the Amber and GDR2 updates that will be coming out in the next few days. Takes great pictures.

I'm still holding on to my original DINC because I'm not sure what phone to get either. I've thought about joining the dark side and getting a iphone, but itunes and the thought of apple store keep me in the light...for now. I'll never get an HTC again (no matter how good the product is) due to HTC/Verzion pushing an OTA that broke the os and required factory reset resulting in losing my newborn pics. I was looking at the Samsung 4S, but wanted the active model (water sealed) and found out that's only through AT$T. Wouldn't even think of getting a Win8 phone.

Whatever the newest note is when I have money to burn. Maybe a big HTC phone if they release a solid bloatless one. I dig HTC for some reason.

After the disaster that was the Galaxy Nexus, I think Google's got a bad taste in their mouth with Verizon and Nexus devices.

As for the OP's question, I'd think your best bet used would be a Droid DNA or a Note 2. If you're buying outright new, then I don't think you really have any other choice than the SGS4.

Of course, if you want to switch to an iPhone, there is that option, but the lineup is pretty simple so it shouldn't be that hard to figure out.

If it were me making this decision, I'd probably go for a Droid Mini. You get all the features of the moto X in a nice, tight, 4.3" package. It's $500 though.

Don't forget with Verizon that you can break payments for a new device up over the course of 12 months, with a $2.00 interest fee each month and keep your unlimited data plan. This is different from Verizon's recently announced Edge program.

^ what was the disaster with the GNex? Sales numbers? Timely updates?

Also, can I get details on how to keep the unlimited data? I can't just upgrade to another of their 2-year contract phones? If that's the case, I'm just going to keep my GNex as it still works perfectly fine. Not really a latest-and-greatest kind of guy, especially @ $500.

If I was still on Verizon I'd either go Note 3 or Droid Maxx with no other consideration.

Already purchased an SGS3 off-contract. Probably won't upgrade for a while...

If I was going to upgrade, I'd probably go for the Droid MAXX.
