I think i will try both Verizon store and Radioshack. They might give a discount on the phones too.

Both the RadioShack in my area (Davis, CA) and the Verizon store in Sacramento recognize the promotion.

I got the v60 with Verizon Wireless two weeks ago. I was on the $55 650 anytime/3000 nights and weekends local plan.

Upgrading to this plan was easy. I called customer service and told them I wanted the new plan with long distance. Now it's $55 for 1000 anytime/4000 nights and weekends, AND I get long distance AND I get to roam around California and Nevada for free.

And I was not required to renew my plan, although if I were using Verizon for a while now, I'd still re-up cause it's a crazy good deal.

Hope that clears it up.

I see that this is also availabe in Oregon at the Verizon website. It's listed as the promotional plan which is basically a Local Digital Choice Plan with 700 Anytime & 4000 N&W for $40/mon. Long distance is another extra $5.

i just renewed my plan with this plan:

Anytime 1000 $50 1000 $0.35 4000 Night & Weekend Home Airtime Minutes

also, i at first got the long distance for $5 a month extra and started to complain how the new plan has no mobile to mobile minutes. the rep then gave me free long distance but charged me $5 a month for 500 min. of mobile to mobile. so instead of paying 75 a month for 750 and 3000 not i pay 55 for 1000/4000 which isn't that bad.

Awesome!! Thank you!! I just switched from 600 nationwide plan to this local plan. I had 600 anywhere anytime minutes with free long distance and I was going over every month and paying at least $100/mo.. Now, based on my history I will never go over the 1000 minutes and if I do it will be cheaper per minute. Tack on long distance for $5.00 and now my bill is only $55/mo plus tax

thanks though.. too bad there AZ is considered long distance or else i'll jump all over this deal... my g/f would appreciate it if AZ was included.. hehe

I just got in on this plan last week. I just called *611. This is a good plan for me since I am always in the two states that offer free roaming and my wife is on another plan that has 300p/3200op but she has free roaming throughout the western US including Hawaii and also free long distance.
I wish something like this was available when I got my first cell phone in 1992. I'm sure alot of us can relate

when you click on the coverage map, you will see a home calling area for LA and San Diego... does it mean that when you live on one of these areas and say you make a call to Nevada, is that going to be considered as long distance?

Does this apply to ANY CA number calling to any CA number?? meaning, u can be anywhere Verizon covers and it's roam free??? I will only call within CA anyways.. i am SO SICK OF Cingular... i wanna hammer my phone for keep saying "SYSTEM BUSY".

So i can get this phone with any CA area code number and get the promotion?? Why am i asking this? Well, SOCAL has better "stores" to get better deals... (My parent's house is there in LA) but i go to school in San Francisco... everything is rip off here... but i wanna get 415 area code, instead of SOCAL area code... i know u can change it later (possibly with more fee), but my concern is that can i get the deal in SOCAL w/ SOCAL numebr and change my phone number like a month later??

I just wanted to add that they customer service person at Verizon should offer you either free long distance or 1000 fre mobile to mobile minutes for $40. They should not charge you an extra $5. All you have to do is ask.

I went to a local Verizon Wireless store and asked about the deal. The coverage where you won't be charged actual long distance is only the Los Angeles area. You will be charged if you call San Diego or SF or even Vegas. That kind of blows, I was under the impression that even with local plans that all of CA and Nevada were free of charge.

If you go to a Verizon store to get a phone, first find the phone you want on an online store for cheaper (I used letstalk.com. I wanted the Audiovox 9100 and they had it for free at the time). Print the online store's price and take it with you to Verizon.

I just switched to Verizon about a month ago and they were charging $70 for the Audiovox. At first the guy said they don't price match but as I was leaving, he asked to see my printed price, looked up the web site himself, and gave me the phone for free. He was really nice about it. He also checked for all the current free services (like six months free web phone use) and added them to my new account.

ok i don't think anyone talked about the service for them yet.. it doesn't suck like cingular rite?? (dropped calls.. weak signals.. overcrowded..) I'm so fed up w/ cingular.. :|

Out here, in the rockford IL market, service for me has been pretty good. There are occasional dropped calls, but it is rare.

At one point I did have problems getting a strong signal during certain times of the day, after 2 weeks of bitching almost every other day, they either fixed the tower problem, or made the proper changes to the settings in my account. No more problems.

I wouldn't say verizon is the cheapest as far as cost per min, but overall, compared to my friend's primeco, its night and day (he's in the chicago market). Also, compared to another friend who has voice stream out here, also big differnce.

So you get what you pay fo I guess.

Verizon service in california is pretty good. i had it last year and had no problems. now i have att, and still have no problems. you would be way better off with verizon vs. cingular.

verizon is the bomb. =) cingular sux in the bay area. however i dont get 4000 minutes ... it only shows 700/1000. and this doesn't include nationwide ld?

BOO down with plans which don't offer nationwide roaming and long distance

he he just kidding this is good for locals. gf almost switched to this but was able to change her sprint plan to 650/3000 nationwide/longdistance for only 35.99.

up for cheap cell plans.

Just a small follow up on verizon's deals.

Please bear in mind when switching plans midcycle. They will tell you that its best do it at the end of your cycle so you dont lose prorated minutes.

If you do this, then you get a fixed # of minutes per day from the old cycle until the end of the cycle from the new plan. You may end up going over both if you use your phone alot (even though technically you have no used all your minutes). Call, complain, bitch and moan, they will credit them.

The other thing, if you're on a 2 yr and go to a yr plan, they will hit you up for a $30 activation fee if you're not at least, or near a year into your old plan. Again, you can ask them to credit this... Say you've been having service problems, etc.

I'm pleased with their service, soso with their customer service, especially lately, they seem to really be getting bad - at least the people i've talked to out of the elgin, IL call center.

Also, from what I've read in the newsgroups, their retention deals suck.

Unlike sprint or cingular, when your contract is up, you won't get these fabulous deals so they could keep you onboard. ymmv.

Big thing with them is to ask ask ask. If you've been having crappy service, call 'em up and ask for a credit.
