The FCC yesterday approved the Motorola V710, a new tri-mode CDMA phone with integrated Bluetooth for Verizon Wireless. The clamshell-style model sports dual color displays and a camera with flash. A small memory card slot, video messaging, BREW, and "advanced" voice dialing round out the feature set. The FCC documents include photos of the phone with a Verizon logo. The first North American CDMA Bluetooth phone was the Sony Ericsson T608, which has seen only limited production and distribution following Sony Ericsson's exit from the CDMA market. A Motorola spokesperson declined to comment.

WOW! That thing is GORGEOUS.

MUCH MUCH BETTER than my POS t720, whos battery life is riduclous at best, and whos screen is craptastic.

There is service, however, has been top-notch for the 1year+ I've had it. Finally a good phone to replace mine with when my contract runs out this fall.

Yes i have the same POS T720 for a year, the battery life is like an Ipod Battery. Just holding out for a bluetooth phone with better features.....

LOL! Majority Whorizon users represented.
I highly doubt that Whorizon will release that phone, because they only want you to have a phone that can dial and recieve phone calls. (edit the "Coming Soon"

bluetooth is like wifi, but slower speed and shorter distance. bluetooth distance is about 30 feet. you can connect your bluetooth phone with your laptop wireless, if both hae BT enabled. what more you can do is you can go online via WAP, GPRS, EDGE, etc.

Does Verizon charge for using the Bluetooth to access internet thru GPRS?

I know that my current T-mobile is free for any GPRS access. So, esssentially I can have free access anywhere I go within service coverage.

That's why Sprint doesn't want to release a bluetooth phone. If I recall, they offer unlimited internet, and it would get abused hardcore.

i'm not sure "abuse" is the correct term... i don't know about sprint, but i know that verizon offers a pc card for laptops to use the data service, so i assume verizon is aware that customers want that feature.

- Verizon's data service, NationalAccess (used to be called Express Network), is cdma2000 rather than GPRS. It should be faster than GPRS, particularly if you are in an EV-DO area and have a compatible handset.
- Unless you have a data plan with Verizon, data usage comes out of your voice minutes.
- Verizon data plans start at $35, unlimited data is $79.99/mo.
