Maybe this is not new but I did a search and didn't come up with anything but Verizon seems to have some pretty sweet plans now. For $35 their America's choice plans include 300 anytime minutes, 3000 night/weekend (start at 9pm ) and free roaming and long distance in their network.

Now if I could just find a good deal on the Motorola c60t

Quick note, Verizon uses the Motorola V60c, NOT the V60t. The "c" version is for the CDMA network.

I have the east coast 300/3200. I was gonna switch to this plan since I don't use 3000 night/weekend minutes a month. Keywords are "within their network". The map above shows the network and it has some pretty big holes in it in certain areas. I live in Vermont and it has holes in half the state, half of New Hampshire, some in upstate New York and basically none of Maine. Depending on where you live this could be really good. I was originally going to get their plan that is all US, but it only had 150 daytime minutes. If only they would do an all US with 300/3000 for $35.

Good deal if you live in the right place.

I just switched to this plan today. Its pretty Hot if you live (and visit) in the "America's Choice" plan. Most major cities are included. The only issue I do see for me is Southern Vermont. I was just there this week and got no signal whatsoever. It wasnt until I reached Mass on 91 that I got a signal. But other than that, its a sweet deal, i cant see myself visiting a city in the US that isnt involved with this program. I did have to extend my contract a year. But thats no biggie since im very happy with the phone and Verizon service...

Thanks, Little_Po. I found this new promotion two days ago when I helped my friend to catch a reasonable wireless plan. It turned out Verizion Wireless looks the most competitive gamer in the market. I would like to add some comments here.

1. Currently there are deals on Motorola V60c Blue ($299.99 after $100 instant savings) Motorola V120c Black ($49.99 after $50 instant savings). Here is the link. It's not the Motorola V60t (I guess you meant this model) but so far so good.

2. There is another FREE stuff - Jabra Ear Set.

3. Night hours are 8 pm - 6 am for the America's Choice plan.

I am on the West 300/3200 and I would like to call Verizon CSR to see if I can switch my plan to this one.

In Ohio and I imagine any states on EST the nights and weekends start at 9:01pm. Too bad I wish it was at 8:00pm like AT&T, I guess you can't get everything though.

Domestic roaming is 65¢/minute. Domestic long distance is 15¢/minute. CDMA phone required. No activation fee for two-year agreements. $30 activation fee on one-year agreements. $175 early termination fee applies. Night hours are 9:01 PM to 5:59AM, Monday to Friday. Weekend hours are 12:00 AM Saturday through 11:59 PM Sunday. Peak hours are all other times except certain holidays.
* Airtime charges apply and may apply to calls received while roaming.

To aceshigh73: For my zip code, night hours are 8:01 pm to 5:59 am. They were 9:01 pm to 5:59 am when I was on the East Coast half a year ago.

I don't get why they would list 65 cents for domestic roaming and 15 cents for long distance if there are no roaming/LD fees with the America plan.

Maybe it's time to switch...

What do people think of my current plan...shoud I keep it?

that v60c is the best phone made now IMHO and that's a great price. Unfortunately, for the nights to start at 9:01pm in my zip code, I really have to jack up the minutes. Typically I get home at 6 and by the time I settle down and eat it's 7pm and I start calling stores, friends, and/or parents. Waiting until 9 is just not acceptable, so I'd have to buy a bunch of minutes.

I've found the best plan for me is from Alltel - their nights start at 7pm. But their v60c is now at $449!! I'm just going to have to wait, I really want that phone and they won't match Verizon :-[

there are roaming and LD fees when you aren't on their network. Their new America's Choice Plan includes Sprint, Verizon and Alltel digital roaming (and some Verizon analog roaming) for free. Supposably 100 of the 100 largest markets are covered. The nights on this plan should be the same time nationwide, starting at 9:01 pm. It reminds me of Sprint's plans - digital roaming is included. If your really in the middle of nowhere they will charge you to roam.

This plan is HOT! I just switched a couple days ago

I used to pay $55 for 400 weekday minutes and 3000 weekend only minutes. This was for Verizon's Nationwide One Rate plan with no roaming and no long distance. I use this because I travel between S.F and N.Y often. Now, I only pay $35 for 300 day time minutes and 3000 nights and weekends, which is nice since all my friends live in CA and I live in NY (Hence, I only make night time calls).

I was about to switch, but guess what with the previous plan you had 300 local minutes, and 1000 mobile to mobile minutes, and first incoming minute free. with this new one both of those things are gone.

I mean if you call long distance a lot during off peak hours it might be worth it for you.
I for one would much rather talk to my friends during peak hours

Yeah. I am getting annoyed with Sprint.At first, their service was ok but has grown worse for me.Their customer service sucks. I am probably going to switch to Verizon as soon as my contract ends.

I just signed up for the new American Choice Plan. They gave me the V60 phone for 299 with a 1 year contract and wavied the activation fee. Also, the salesperson had just gotten back from a national meeting and stated that Verizon is buying Sprint PCS and the deal will take place in Jan 2003.

To Heinrich: I just searched in this forum with keyword Verizon and happened to find a thread with MrJones' comments, who claimed a former sales representative in a local Verizon store. It seems we can get the Motorola V60c at an amazing price of $199.99. Anybody wants to take a try? Please keep us updated with your results. Thanks. Here is the link of that thread.

To erub: I tried four zip codes, two of which are east coast ones. The other two are for west coast. It's a little strange that the definition of night hours is explicitly shown for west coast, where night hours start at 8:01 pm, while none for east coast. I will call them this evening to make sure my night hours will not be changed after I switch to America's Choice.

It is great as long as you palne to use the phone is areas where Verizon service is strong ( usually the areas that have 800 mhz services ). The areas that rely on the 1900mhz signal (like theformer Primeco is SW Florida ) might cause you to go into costly roaming. However I also see this as great alternative to SprintPCS.

Hey Guys,

I'm a RadioShack "Sales Associate" in Louisiana, and we sell Verizon phones. Let me set a few things straight.
1. Verizon has teamed, NOT bought, with Alltel and SprintPCS to form America's Choice. (I'm not saying they aren't gonna buy them, just that they haven't.)
2. it is NOT free roaming. I repeat NOT free roaming. They way it works is your phone will search for a verizon tower, then it will search for a Sprint/Alltel. If it gets a Verizon tower, ur phone will say "Verizon", if it gets a Sprint/Alltel it might say(depends on phone) "Extended Service", and the roaming indicator will be FLASHING on and off. If your roaming indicator is ON, then you are ROAMING on someone else's tower, and you will get hit with .65 cents a min. (At least this is how it is for the MidGulf, and they are supposed to be the same Nationwide, because that's one of their new promotions, anywhere you go, same plan, etc...)
3. Long Distance is free. (On the MidGulf...etc.)
4. @ my RadioShack the Motorola v120c was ringing up for 29.99 with a 1yr contract, and I believe that the Nokia 5185i is free.

Just wanted to set a few things straight for yall.

I have a Q, sometimes I get roaming signal just 20mins away from manhattan...but I don't think I've ever been charged for it since I have the Eastcoast plan. What's the explanation behind this and how will I know if I get the American plan?


Another Q: My plan indicates that my eastcoast mins aren't included for Canada...but I was able to call Toronto, Canada for hours. Do you think by changing it to American plan, it'll prohibit from calling Toronto?

what's goin on? i was also looking at this verizon plan for the ny/nj area. right now i have sprint (nights and weekends@8!) , and i thought i'd try something different.

anway, i was in the mall and i got some nextel brochures....don't forget about them!!!

200 nextel direct connect minutes (digital two-way radio feature) (nextel phone to another nextel phone)*
3500 nights and weekends minutes (STARTS at 8PM!!)

*to explain further....the 200 nextel direct minutes only apply in your home area...you can't two-way someone in cali from ny.

also, if you guys like the v60c, nextel has the i90c ($224) which is also a hot phone, not like the older clunky nextel phones.
