Very cheap wireless networking products (Micor Plus)

I've seen this another forum.
Their price is fantastic, but I'm not sure their products' quality.
Has anyone used it?

haha god. isn't there a better way to berate the guy? Hmm... personally I wouldn't trust the stuff for anything mission critical just because I don't know it. Can't find good technical specs on either website. So no help there to determine what chipsets they use. Anyone bite the bullet and check it out yet?

They are a pretty new company, they just started the website not too long ago. They have one of their cust reps post on bensbargains all the time for cust assistance. At least their cust service is polite... I just ordered a few hard drive enclosures from them so I'll let you know of their quality when they get here.

Looks like this unit may be sold by a lot of different suppliers. They just change the first few letters. ie: MP=MicroPlus, EWL=EpoxWireLess

The above unit is $61 at NewEgg

R425 at NewEgg

These could be very good deals, or too good to be true.

Text which has been around 10yrs...etc.

does it matter! almost all wireless stuff is standard today.... like an ethernet card.... big brands = big money... good find!

justdeals can match most of those prices, but with big-name manufacturers such as D-Link and Benq. Techbargains is also showing a $5 off coupon (don't know whether that is still valid).

That's true for things like ethernet cards.

However, with things like wireless the quality of the antenna and other components make a big difference in the product's effectiveness.
If you are just going to use a WAP to network a few computers in the same room because you don't want wires, then it probably won't matter. But if you need range and signal quality it's best to know exactly what you're getting.

Hmm, if you visit the MicroPlus website, none of the drivers are available for download. All of the product description links are currently broken. And trying to load the instructions for the access point brings up the instructions for the router instead.

None of that inspires much confidence.

I just got the hard drive enclosures from them today, and I'm running one of them right now. its very quiet, works perfectly, and the build quality looks pretty good. I've never used a USB 2.0 device, but I'm really impressed by the speed of file transfers. It came with drivers on cd, but i dont need them on xp. My 2cents.

ordered it on the 6th, and it shipped on teh 7th. problem is that i am goign out of town so i won't be back till the 19th so i won't be able to see it anytime soon.
