I have been searching for info on this for a while and have found nothing.
here is the situation, i have a DI-614+ wireless router, i want to be able to connect to another wireless router across the street and share the connection via the built in 4 port switch.
obvious problems are that the WAN interface seems to not be connected to the access point. Thus while i can set up the access points IP (which is simply the lan address) i can not use DHCP to share out ip address through the switch, as it would conflict with the other router. This is not a big deal as i can set static ips on all of my computers. The problem is that i have no idea whether the access point has made a connection to the remote router through the wireless connection. There is no interface such as would be seen with a wireless card where you can view available wireless networks. And there is no indication of signal strength or any of the things you would look for to tell whether the connection is working well or poorly. So i could set up a client card to test the connection, but i am planning on installing a high gain antenna onto the router so a client card would give me a clear indication of whether it is working well or poorly.
Does anyone have any ideas of use a configuration that is similiar to this.
Ideally i would like to isolate my network from his, like you would if you were to set up to routers and uplink the first router into the wan port of the second router so as to have the two networks on different subnets.
Any info would be great.
Thanks
