You only get 25 email addresses for $19.95/month. You have to pay $29.95/month for 50 email addresses and the merchant store. It still looks like a great deal if you need that much bandwidth.

I will never use a webhost that meters my traffic.
There are hosts that have unlimited bandwidth -- with streaming servers too.. and cgi access etc..

Nice find. How do you people find such places? Compared to these places, I'm getting ripped for web hosting.

As for unlimited bandwidth, I think after you take up a certain amount (they still do meter you), then they say you're overusing their resources for it to be fair to other customers and that you have to pay more. So it's basically the same as a metered account with a larger allowance.

I found this from http://www.webhostlist.com/cgi/scompare.asp?stable=Hosting_Plans. It's like WebAxxs.net's $15.99/mon plan, but for $19.95 you get instead: 10GB, 500MB, 25 POP3, and referrer logs (this is the deal Alex just mentioned).

Alex, I've got a question on the bandwidth: how often does OLM calculate your bandwidth usage? i.e. my current web host gives me 6GB a month, but they only allow 200MB in a 24 hour period, thus my web site doesn't handle traffic spikes very well.

You get 10 gigs a month. It doesnt matter if you use them all in one day. They told me that if they see that I will break the required bandwidth that they would call me ahead of time, and warn me about it. There are no daily restrictions. When I was looking into a webhost, all those "unlimited bandwidtH" places had some sort of clause in their agreement, stating "unlimited bandwidth is based on ## of megs per day" etc etc. I'm over the 10gig limit as it is, and they don't have a problem with it at all. (Just have to pay $20/gig extra)

Thanks for the info, Alex. $20 per extra GB sounds kind of pricey, but I really doubt that I'll be going over 10GB/mo (more likely I'll go over 200-300MB in a particular day). Although OLM doesn't offer the 'unlimited bandwidth' like some web hosts, I don't recommend that either, because often it means that the other customers (who you would be sharing a server with) are too demanding of resources. The cool thing about OLM is that they sound like a good place where you could host for a couple years (I've been with my current host for many years).

That's why I like OLM. Another benefit is the 24/7 Tech support. I have never been on hold longer than 5minutes, and they've always been very helpful. I spent 2 hours on the phone once with a guy, trying to figure out some CGI problems, and he wouldn't end the conversation until everything was done, tested and running 100%. I dont have a referral ID or anything, I just recommend them to everyone who looks for a place to host. I had a REALLY awful experience with a hosting place when I first started out, and I'd never want any webmaster to go through what I had to endure.
