I just plugged in a 2.8E into my 865PE system to replace my 2.26B and the memory latency according to Everest skyrockted. It used to be around 100 ns, now it's over 200 ns. It seems the higher I clock the CPU, the more it goes up. At the stock speed of 2.8 GHz (200 MHz FSB) with memory running at 160 MHz (5:4 div) w/ stock timings (2.5-3-3-7), the latency was almost 200 ns. When I overclocked the FSB to 230 MHz (3.22 GHz) with memory running at 153 MHz (3:2 div), the latency went up to 240 ns. So, I want to figure out how this makes sense, and if memory latency has any real effect in real world applications.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
