i agree with the OP although it seems he overreacted a bit. i would have asked for my money back and walked out then got it elsewhere, and let them know i wouldn't ever be shopping there again.

as others said, you pay for a brand new unopened game, and that is what i'd expect.

you think that if you went home and opened the game but didn't play it, then returned it 3 days later and asked for your money back, that you would get a full refund?

yea right, they would only give you the trade-in value for it.

I don't blame the OP. i wouldnt want to buy a open box as new.

So don't accept it, and wait for a new shipment. No need to bust a blood vessel over it.

where did i bust a blood vessel over it? i said i agreed with the OP. they shouldnt be giving open box's as new items.

It's a crappy policy. They try to make you seem like some sort of difficult, weirdo customer when you ask for one that's still in the shrinkwrap.

Screw you, Gamestop. It's not my fault that games are stolen from your store, thus requiring this bullshit practice of removing discs from packages. Buy a better anti-theft system. I'm sure you can afford it from the absurd profit you make on buying and selling used games.

I find it funny that a badass would yell and scream inside a store, and then take off ..... on a bicycle.

LOL at that image.

Even worse, he had the post prior to his revival post.

I got through the first page before noticing the date. How in the hell does someone reply to a thread they themselves last posted in... one year earlier.

I just rode my bike 15 miles to pick up my copy of MG34 for PS3.

Are you going to tell your grandkids about this when they complain it's taking too long for their holograms to download?

I caused a huge scene...with about 20 people in the store.

This is always the way to get what you want. Yep, unloading on someone behind the counter that works for minimum wage is going to give you the best help and they'll want to do everything they can for you when you start acting like a complete moron in front of a group of people in a public place. Good plan.

I'm also wondering- if you're 15 miles from a GameStop, why the hell wouldn't you have the game shipped to you? I'd rather pay $5 shipping for a game than take a 3 hour round trip bike ride.

Latecomer to the thread and I only read the OP, but I can totally relate. I hate GS on so many fucking levels I lost count. The straw that broke the camel's back was when my wife bought Kung Fu Panda for our kids' Wii. They sold her a "new" open game. Meanwhile, I found it cheaper at Amazon. I got the one from Amazon and we set to return the other to Gamestop (which had not been played).

Wife: "Hi, I'd like to return this."
38 Year Old Broad at Counter: "It's open"
Wife: "Yeah, that's how you sold it to me."
38YOBaC: "We can't take this back."
Wife: "Why?"
38YOBaC: "It's open."
Wife: "Yeah, we just discussed that."

Now, to be fair, we TOTALLY anticipated this. Before we even left the house, I told my wife this was going to happen (because GS is notorious for this nonsense, which is why I was pissed [at GS] when my wife came home with an open game to begin with). So I'm waiting in the wings as "another customer" who's hearing this.

Me: "You sold her an open game and won't let her return it because it's open? You sell me open games all the time!"
38YOBaC: "Well, sir... if you can just hold on one..."
Me: "No, don't tell me to hold on! Why won't you take her game back?!"

I'll spare you the rest, but I made a complete scene. I'm sure I made an absolute jackass of myself, but I didn't care. That place needs to be punished for shit like that. In the end, she accepted the return and my wife and I walked out of the store hand-in-hand.

Good times.
