*Sorry for the length*
I've been having numerous display problems as of late that started when I bought my first LCD monitor, an LG 1720P. I set it up and hooked it up via analog since I did not have a long enough DVI cable yet. I immediately saw that even in the bios, there were red artifacts on the screen in place of some letters of words. Windows booted up and there were more red artifacts everywhere and the screen kept blanking out like there was a resolution change or something. So I assumed that there was something wrong with my video card so I RMA'd it through Evga and they sent me a new one. I got my DVI cable by then and I hooked it up via DVI and it was fine for a while until one day I was in Windows and the whole screen blacked out and never came back. I figured I had another defective card so I said forget Evga and I bought an ATI 9600XT. I brought it home and put it in, but there were more problems from the beginning. There were grey vertical lines while the pc was booting and in games the screen would filcker red. I thought I had a driver issue so I made sure I had the latest drivers for everything. Still to no avail, I returned the ATI and I ended up going back to Nvidia with a Leadtek 5900XT. That was also fine for a while until I was playing a game and the screen went black and came back as if a setting was changed. It started doing this more frequently so I switched to analog to see if it would do it then. Everything was fine for a couple months with analog until I moved to school and tried my friend's NEC lcd with DVI with no problems. I noticed that with his monitor, Windows would detect it as a plug and play monitor where mine had a driver. I uninstalled the LG driver and for a while my monitor was working with DVI without a hitch. Just today I played Halo and once I quit from the game, some blue lines would flicker horizontally across the screen and it would go blank and come back as if it was changing resolutions or refresh rates. I tried different drivers but even as I'm typing this every minute or so the screen goes blank and comes back. My friend is convinced that it's my motherboard since I've been though so many cards and tried different monitors, cables, drivers and settings that the only thing left to blame is my motherboard which is an Asus A7N8X Deluxe. Again, sorry this was so long but I'd like to get to the bottom of this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
