I am thinking of getting this drive to use in a RAID config with the Maxtor 7200 60GB I picked up awhile ago thru the Staples deal. Anyone have + or - thoughts on using these together in RAID ?

Thanks

I too have to agree with IgoByte about NewEgg's customer service. I still buy from them, but their customer reps sound like underpaid kids who are not enjoying their jobs. I don't know who you guys are talking to who keep saying they have great customer service. I get the same 2 or 3 cranky kids every time I've called over the past 6 months or so. They make Staples customer service reps look like gold IMHO. Just my $0.02.

Raid arrays do not have to be made with identical drives, but it is highly recommended. Performance wise, the array will only be as fast as your slowest drive. Storage wise, if you do raid 0 with two drives, the size of your array will only be twice the smallest drive.

60gpx is the newer one. It apears on the 20GB platters disk drives, IBM was unable to produce the 80GB and 100GB version of the drive. So it is called 60GPX

The price on Newegg just dropped to $108 (plus $9 FedEx).
I think I will get this now...total will be ~125 for me since I live in CA.
was gonna get the Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 40 gig, but after all the rants about the ibm being faster AND quieter, I decided on this drive.

for the ppl who have ordered and received this drive, does it come with any cables? thx.

btw, Why are the 60 GXP's cheaper than the 75's?
