vey bad problem (HELP PLZ)

Well, strange problem I didn´t know where to post. I had a p4@1400 system that used to be my main. When I decided to change it I plugged a 80Gb Barracuda that the PC would't recognize without disc wizard from seagate. Then, I backed-up there 8Gb of files. The problem is that I sold that system and when I plug the HD on my new system winXP won't boot, except when I put it with the jumper limiting it to 32Gb. But the system says the HD hasn´t got format !!!!!
I need the imformation in the hard disck and Seagate support just says it isn't their problem. Jumpers are properly put, so thats not the problem, and my Asus A7N8X deluxe 2.0 shouldn't be the problem. What can I do?

Yes very nice. The question is I need the 8Gb data in the HD and can't rescue it.

Well, it sounds to me like you need a CD burner, then. I have about 300 GB of data that I've burned to CD's, and I can reformat either of my drives whenever I feel the need.

Have you tried the HDD on another PC? Try it, if it's visible on another PC you could copy out the data, format and copy back that data. Good luck.

Yes, but it happens the same. Also tried Get Data Back, wich seemed to read the files but I didn't find a crack for it to continue the proces.

Those companies (at least here) cost as much as $240 per Mb. Maybe you could tell me a good cracks page if you now.

Silly noob, he posted it here due to the closeness of CPU and hard drives. Both are located inside your tower you know.

Hey!! I'm not that new!! But here I always see good advises. Maybe I should have posted it in general hardware, next time I'll do it. BUT PLEASE, CAN ANYONE HELP ME!! MY FATHER IS GOING TO KILL ME IF I DON'T RESCUE THAT DATA!! :'(

Simplest way would be to take the hard drive to another person...who HAS XP and get them to burn the info off.

Have you updated the BIOS on your m/b to support greater than 32 gig? Aslo..check the jumpers on the Hard drive...some have jumpers that limit the drive to read just 32 gig.

I have an 80 gig hard drive that would not be recognized by my bios..so I set it to NONE...then let XP install it from within windows...worked like a charm..

So i suggest...get a tiny hard drive that is large enough for the OS...then install your drive after the OS is loaded and running.

Try sticking that hard drive in a computer that already has one, and see if you can see the files on it

you say you have taken it to a friends house who has XP? what type of partition is it? ntfs? fat 32? Move the jumper so its not in the 32GB restriction and put it your friends. if his bios does not recignize it. look for one of those quick bios programs hopefully seagate has one never used seagate hds.

OK,

1. Something you probably did - check Seagate's site if they have a new utility that could help you.
2. Go to somebodys PC and try Partition Magic; it very often shows if something is on the HDD. If Partition Magic will say that there is nothing on the disk, you lost it...
3. Find the guy who you sold the computer to where the HDD worked; and borrow another 8-10 GB HDD form a friend and copy the data over.
