Looks like you can hook up multiple things to this including video games/tv. Nice for making a kids room entertainment center with old stuff i would think or something like that.

I bought this VGA box a year and a half ago and used it for less than a day. The video quality is pretty crappy unless you have a large monitor that you can sit about 10 feet away from.

I've been looking for an affordable version of this for some time. I have an extra 19: monitor and need an extra TV for the bedroom since mine went kaputt. Has anyone tried this on a 19" monitor, preferably an aperture grille version?

Yeah.. I bought this a year ago. Used it on my 19' PC monitor. Returned it the next day. Dark and very low res.

Go spend $50 on a WinTV card would be a better choice. I am using one, WinTV PCI card is ok quality. But the DPI of the TV isn't very high so this kinda explain the slow resolution the card display. You also have an option of making the screen smaller so U don't have to sit 10 feet away.

I stay away from anything that has only s-vidie or composite video imports if you want to use your monitor as a viewing device.

Pay an extra 100 or so and get yourself a Key Digital X-blaster [KD-XB] or its more expensive [but with wider support] the KD-CTCA2. Both: 480p, 520p, 720p, and 1080i with automatic switching, but the KD-XB only guaranties support for the Xbox and GC [PS2 and Progressive Scan DVD players are a crap shot according to their technical support service].

The KD-XB can be had for about 170 new.
The KD-CTCA2 will net you about 250 new.

I have no experience with the $40 box, but can recommend this $150 one. Output resolution is selectable between 640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768, at either 60Hz or 75Hz. Input is composite or S-video, with a pass-through and window-over VGA input. Quality is excellent on my 80" LCD projection! Note that progressive inputs aren't supported except as VGA-in, but it auto-selects 3:2 or 2:2 pulldown to do de-interlacing.

I bought one because my hot deal antique LCD projector did terrible color rendition on its S-video or composite inputs. This unit is near-dead-on (per Video Essentials) right out of the box!

Direct from the mfg is the best deal I found on these - some eBay folks try and sell them as $199 retail items.... You pretty much have to call the company to check order status as they take online orders fine, but have never responded to my e-mails. I always get a person on the phone and he answered all my questions instantly - including getting me tracking #s.

HTH,
Richard
