Excellent review!

I finally got my VF900 installed today, and I have to agree completely with their assesment. The cooler is dead quiet, and even being dead quiet my idle temps have dropped almost 10C, and my load temps have dropped 15C. It's pretty amazing and really easy to install.

I put a Zalman VF700-Cu on my 7900gt the day I got it. (Didn't even run it once with the stock fan) . I agree that the VF900 would've probably been better, but I couldn't find one locally. Oh well. Anyway, I'm getting about 38c idle and 48c load and it's pretty much inaudible so I guess I'm happy.

While I enjoyed this review thoroughly, it came too late to help me. I bought a Gigabyte 7600GT Silent Pipe II. No fan; no noise. Now if I could just quiet down my DFI motherboard...

I have to say I'm pretty disappointed in the V1 Ultra, not only for it's poor performance but also complicated and flimsily installation method.

Apparently they will be reviewing the Accelero at a later date (hopefully sooner then later).

I have the VF700 AlCu installed on my 6600gt (AGP) and I am thouroughly impressed. I know that the card they tested it on was the 6800gt, but my experience with the 6600gt was gravy. Lowered load temps from 80-93C to 51C constant. And that was on the 5 volt quiet setting.

I used Arctic Silver 5 as well.

Just my experience.

Also: look at the PC they used for this review...how many of you have cases that don't have the waffle opening on the back of the case, on the very bottom? I know that the majority of cases I've ever seen have that opening, which would improve airflow around the cards.

Just a thought.

I don't know. If I read that correctly from their article. I would tend to think there is some bias in the conclusion. Every site I've read and my expereience seem to think other wise about their opinion on V-1. jmho.

They are biased. Biased to low noise, if you look closer the V-1 comes out on top with its fan at full speed. It however losses out with reduced air flow, couple that with the complicated and flimsy installation and the fact it doesn?t provide air flow for anything but the GPU core and its weaknesses become apparent. It's too bad, I really like Thermalright's CPU heatsinks; hopefully they can do better with the V-2.
