VGA to Component connection

Alright, I am looking for a schematic or diagram for the construction for a cable (hopefully no IC's) to connect a VGA Video card to a HDTV with component inputs. Now I have searched google for it and have turned up empty handed. AVS Forum doesn't have anything either. I was just wondering if you all had some sort of insight as to the construction of such a cable. The ones on the net are fairly expensive and I am sure it is possible to build an Inexpensive one.

Some help if you please.

It's not going to work unless your TV can accept a VGA signal or RGB signal over the component inputs - component is a fundamentally different signal than VGA.

There are converters that will allow a component input to accept a VGA signal, but they aren't cheap[/b].

Also consider that you may be better off to get an ATi video card + proper HDTV adapter for said card. Then you won't have to mess around with refresh rates and resolutions to ensure that the timings are proper for your HDTV.

Cool. Thanks... Find a concise answer like that was somewhat more difficult elsewhere on the net.

A lot of the new GeForce 6600-series cards are coming with S-Video to component HDTV adapters, also. Here's an example that is not too expensive. Unfortunately, it is PCIe and not AGP, so it may not be a big fat lot of help to you.

I know what you're saying, but it's not S-Video to component. S-Video is 4 pins and a tab. That appears to be 15 or 16 pins, like an RS-422 serial port (think Macintosh). If you'll notice, the card comes with a "custom port" to S-Video cable as well as the "custom port" to HDTV cable.

Couldn't tell from the pictures, just kinda figured it was some sort of beefed up S-Video port. Thanks for clarifying.
