If you got on the 3120V deal, you can get it to output to TV with this adapter:

When I got the notebook, I was disappointed that it didn't have a TV out. But apparently, the VGA port has TV out capability and just need this adapter. Or so I heard . . . I haven't tried it yet, since I just ordered one. There was some discussion about it on the following forums:

That's really strange. I've never seen anything like it. Something tells me there's some catch to this. Let us know if it actually works.

it says ntc output required, i assume that type of vid card has a tvout chip but it just runs the tvout through a couple of pins on the vga connector. in other words it doesnt work on just any card.

Anyone tried this yet? Seeing that it's just a simple cable... maybe someone could test the VGA port's capabilities by just connecting one pin on the VGA port to a normal rca cable... I don't have this laptop so I can't test it myself

A cable that looks much like that comes with some Matrox video cards (G450 for certain). It does just run the TV signal through extra pins on the VGA port (you'll note that that cable has all the pins in it). It will not work on all computers. I haven't heard of any non-matrox video cards using this method, although it is possible. Don't know anything about that laptop

I have one of these from Matrox for G450, around $15 .

I have the 3120V.
And for $2 this is pretty cool if it works.
I think I'm gonna order one.

I just got my order confirmation and the item is back-ordered. 8-( I guess I will have to wait a while.

By the way . . . Another really good tip . . . Although the 3120V claims to have a maximum memory size of 384 MB, people have installed 512 MB modules and they work!

Edit....NM...here is shipping cost on this $1.99 item to Seattle, WA

6.02 - UPS Ground
4.35 - USPS Priority Mail
5.49 - FedEx Saver
18.62 - FedEx Priority Overnight (for those idiots who can't wait).

I guess USPS isn't too bad, but I wonder if you can't just hit a local Bestbuy or RadioShack for about the same money....

i am pretty sure this only works on matrox g450 and g550 cards.

the only way it'll work is if the extra pins on the vga port are for video on the laptop (it'd have to be designed that way, and this would require what 5 pins since svideo has 5 i believe)

I bought one off of ebay for $15 a little while back (ya that was stupid but I really wanted a tv out). But anyways, it didn't work. It showed up on the screen but it was three exact copies side by side and really tall and skinny. I have an ibm thinkpad 600x. I'm pretty sure this only works if you have a specific type of video card. It has to have some sort of tv-out function. Quote from auction:

This is a combination of both TV-out and S-video out cable.

This cable has a VGA connector on one end and both RCA Jack Video (TV) Out and S-Video Out connectors on the other end.

It will work with laptops and desktops with VGA cards that has TV-Out function capability.

Please, check your PC & Video Card manual or manufacturer to make sure that your VGA card has TV-Out function capability to ensure this cable will work for you!

Probably won't work with most laptops!!

edit: try this or just get a scan converter!
