Via 4 in 1 AGP and Geforce 4 MX440 problem

Seems I've seen this prob discussed in the past but haven't owned a Via chipset until now....I can't get my Video drivers to work on my new system.
The Nvidia driver instructions say "uninstall all other video drivers, AGP, etc prior to installing the new Nvidia ones".
I put in the Biostar disc, selected 4 in 1 drivers and checked "Uninstall AGP driver".
Rebooted and installed Nvidia drivers. Rebooted and...
Now I can't get past the first part of WIN98 load process.
The screen goes blank.
So, insafe mode I've uninstalled Nvidia drivers again, but have only 16 color display. The card is an 8X AGP card, 64 mdg ddr and the motherboard is a Biostar M7VIT Pro. Other than this prob it works great.

that board doesn't have onboard video...intall the agp drivers so your video card will work. you can't install an apg video card if your system doesn't know it has an agp slot.

the 4n1 drivers should all be loaded onto the sytem for best possible performance.

Big mistake there,you should leave the VIA AGP driver installed , the normal way to install the nvidia driver is remove the old Nvidia driver via add/remove programs icon in Control Panel and select Nvidia software then uninstall,reboot and install the Nvidia driver.

You need to reinstall the VIA AGP driver first.
