Anyone know the difference and where to get the beta? I was using the 4.23 and just applied the 4.25- hope it helps with my frequent crashes during gaming.

I'd stick with the 4.25a. The gain you get isn't worth the POSSIBLE gain. Just wait for the new release.

I've tried all of them, and being that stability is very important to me i'd go with the 4.25a. But that just my opinion.

Goodluck (Let me know how it all turns out)

I'm running 4.28a on several machines at work with Win2K, no problems. (ASUS mobo's) was the only thing to keep from crashing (That and beta bios)

Here's what I observed with 4.28V.

I'm using a Abit KT7-RAID

NO CRASHES with 3D GAMES (D3D and OpenGL)

FAST WRITES on, AGP 4X, BIOS WZ, ACPI ----> Windows98SE.

So far it has been stable.

SYSTEM:
Abit KT7-RAID, WZ bios.
DURON 914MHZ (o.c 700MHz)
Asus V7700 Deluxe (GeForce2 GTS 32 DDR)
SB Live!
Maxtor 30G and IBM 10G Harddisk on IDE3 (Highpoint)
Realtek 10Mbps PCI NIC
Lucent tECH PCI modem.

true but i think in win2k 4.25 is better. I just got a promise ata-100 controller card to run hard drives and runs cdroms on mb. No need now for bus master drivers. Win2k work fine.

I think doing that will solve a lot stability problems and will run whole lot faster. Plus you get more ide.

Currently have on MB
Pri mas=Kenwood 72x
Sec mas=Plextor 12x10x32A
sec slave=aopen slot 16x dvd

Promise controller
pri mas=deckstar 75gxp
sec mas=maxtor 7200rpm 20md ata100

ALSO scsi 2940u
Optical drive

Runs no problems with just 4.25a installed with radeon 32 ddr
thanks

Well, I'm running 4.25a drivers with a really annoying problem.

I have a Asus V6600 Deluxe and if I use the nVidia 3.75 drivers, I can't play OpenGL games for no more than 5 minutes or so but if I remove those driver and install the latest 6.50 drivers, I can't play DirectX games, DIVX movies or real audio movies for more than 3 or 4 minutes. This is a problem I've been living with for quite a while now.

I think I will try these new 4.28's and see how things go with the latest nVidia 6.50's.

Well, the latest 4.28a drivers I heard have incompatibility with CD Rewritables. If you have a cd burner, you may want to check if it's working. Some do and some don't. I just bought a Plextor 16x/10x/40x and that is not working with the new drivers.

Go to www.hardocp.com and read some of their findings and numerous emails that he received. There's a way around it.. but that's after the fact that I tried installing the latest drivers to see if they worked with my burner and couldn't boot into Windows 2000! Had to reformat and put Windows Me and it's still not working, so it's not the OS...something to do with the IDE Busmaster it looks like.

I just ordered the Asus CUSL2-C as I'm sick and tired of downloading VIA drivers for my motherboard. I've owned many motherboards in the past, but can't remember any one of them that I needed to update drivers for it. I can understand updating the bios, but not drivers.

No thanks, I'll stick to Intel chipsets.

CUSL2-C has drivers too, the Intel chipset drivers. They are updated on the Intel website as well. And as I've indicated in another thread, I cannot install them under Win2k, the installation freezes at 90%. (works fine under win98). As a result I am not able to use USB and Serial devices under win2k yet. So far my experience with Post-BX Intel chipsets is not a postive one.
