via 4in1s vs xp

I have not installed any 4in1s since I started using xp. At the time people said XPs management of the via chipset was superior to vias. Is that still the case? Is there are reason to use the 4in1s or should I continue to stick with xp on this?

XP's 'management' is nothing more then an older VIA 4in1 driver set that's included natively to support VIA chipsets. So either way your still using VIA's drivers, the question is whether you want the latest drivers or the relatively old drivers integrated with XP.

Personally, I'd say update... VIA's made a few decent improvements since the time of XP's release, this is doubly so if you have one of their more recent chipsets.
If you've got a legacy VIA chipset then you might as well stick to the tried and proven solution integrated with XP as your unlikely to gain much with newer drivers.

Whats a legacy chipset?
I have an asus a7v133 with the kt133a chipset.

I personally would install the lastest 4in1 drivers. When I did a fresh installation of windows xp without installing 4in1 drivers AGP texture acceleration is disabled. You can check this click run.. then type in dxdiag.. then click on the display tab. If agp texture acceleration is disabled your system is definately not running at it's full potential in any 3d game.

Install them,99 % of users don`t get any problems with XP and VIA 4 in 1 drivers,I think I`ve installed every official version from 4.34 to 4.43 with no problems with XP,normally the main benefits are bug fixes, slight performance increase, especially if you are using XP native VIA drivers.
