Via Apollo Pro 133A and ATI Radeon 9000 incompatibility?

I've bought a new Gigabyte R9000 video card. Installed it into my old computer - doesn't work (no picture, if I boot with second (PCI) video card Sandra says AGP unpopulated though the Radeon is in). Tested it on a friend's computer with a i865 board - it's ok. My computer is currently set to the most conservative settings in BIOS (AGP x2, no fast writes etc.) and not overclocked. It's been rock stable for close to four years now (I can't believe it's that old!) so it's definitely the new video card. I know the early VIA board had AGP problems but I thought if it managed my old power hungry GeForce DDR (RIP) it will surely have no problems with a passively cooled R9000...

So, has anyone had similar problems? What do you recommend I try?

First, flash the bios to the latest version. If that fails, your board just may not support newer voltage AGP cards. Check with the board maker and see what voltage AGP cards it supports.

Both ASUS P3V4X and the Gigabyte R9000 (http://www.giga-byte.com/VGA/Products/Products_GV-R9000.htm, http://www.ati.com/support/faq/agpchart.html) are universal x2/x4 AGP 2.0, not keyed for either voltage. I've checked, because that was the first thing that came to mind. They should both be able to work at either 3.3v or 1.5v. I do know the mobo has issues with AGP x4, but I don't care for that - I only need it to boot and display 2D images...

The mobo has been flashed to last BIOS version a looong time ago. I haven't flashed the video card. Think it could help?
