Vid card for gaming at 1920x1200?

I've been out of the hardware game for a while. What are the best options for gaming at 1920x1200 at the $250-$350 pricepoint? Is anything coming out in the next couple months that I should be aware of?

I'm not doing heavy gaming at the moment, but it's time to update my system. I'll be playing DiabloIII, etc, whenever that comes out.

6950 2GB.

HD7000 series and GTX600 series will be out in a few months, though I've heard rumors they might be delayed until Q2 or even Q3 2012. I hope that's not true... but I still wouldn't be all that surprised, these days it's expected that things just don't reach the market in schedule.

What GPU do you have now and is it sufficient to get by in whatever you currently play? If so I suggest waiting until Diablo III or some other game you're waiting for is released and make your purchase choice then.

I have a GTX 280 that's just fine to play TF2 on

It's the whole thing of, well, do I really want to have multiple video card drivers on my system if I'm going through with a new install, or do I just want to change everything at once. Given that there are Big Improvements coming down the line, maybe it wouldn't hurt to wait on the video front until that comes out.

Diablo III's system requirements are kind of a joke from what I understand. a 280 should be enough to max out at that resolution. Now BF3 at max might put it through it's paces, but for the most part that card should play just about anything you throw at it at 2x or 4x AA.

I agree with David. If Diablo III is the most intensive game on your radar, a GTX 280 will be able to handle it with ease.

In terms of drivers, both Nvidia and AMD are much better than they used to be about cleaning up after themselves when you uninstall. I don't think that you'll have any problems switching between the two (I haven't).

Another idea is you might be able to hold off for the 6xx and 7xxx cards to hit shelves, therefore getting a potentially longer life out of the card you buy. If there are no games that are going to push your card now, prices are almost always dropping. You'll likely get more out of your money either way, or both ways .
