I'm looking at buying either a 7900GT or an x1900xt card. The basis for these choices are purely price point issues. On the x1900xt, I've been looking at newegg rebate deals such as link or link. For a motherboard, I'm looking at the DFI Ultra-D.
Now initial cost aside, with rebates at newegg and ZZF, the 1900xt's appear to be the best deal going in that price range. This being said, my first question would be is there a better deal I'm not seeing here?
On the motherboard angle I've been looking at a DFI board for the overclocking options. Though I've also heard that this particular board is finky about the components being used. So my question would be, has anyone usied a 7900GT or 1900xt with this particular board, or perhaps just the board in general? Any particular pitfalls to avoid? I've looked on the recommend memory modules and power supply listings and my Patriot(non-XBLK) and Cooler Master 600w PSU are not mentioned, good bad or indifferent.
Any comments on those questions or anything regarding good price/performance on other components are welcome as well. Basically I'm planning a move up from a 6800gt on an AGP platform.
