Wow, a lot of internet toughguys in here. Did anyone SEE the punch she threw? It came out of nowhere, had good power, great follow-through and got him right on the chin.

I'm pretty certain that most people who spend their time posting on the interwebs would get their ass kicked from here to next Tuesday by this woman.

She should have been checked immediately. And when I say checked, I mean a roundhouse to the head. You've got to be out of your mind throwing punch like that in this situation. And the reason she acts like that is because she's gotten away with it in the past.
Don't fuck with the cub when mama bear is near by.

The lady was completely out of the line. The skater got up and immediately went to the kid to make sure he was all right. He showed real concern, and it was clear he wanted to help.

In addition, I have kids. In all likelihood, that kid was crying because the collision scared him. Not because he was actually hurt.

I wouldn't fault the skater if he filed charges for assault.

People in our society need to man up and realize that accidents happen.

Best post of the thread, looked like the kid just got knocked down and no damage worse than a band aid would have handled. I'm not siding with the skateboarder, he should be more aware of his surroundings when attempting to do tricks so as to not run into anyone but he genuinely felt bad about it, knew he was in the wrong, a few stern words from the mom (AFTER she checked her son to see if he was OK) was all that was needed, to just walk over and punch him in the face was ridiculous considering the circumstances, I hope he files assault charges with the local PD, that stupid bitch was whacked for doing that..

I wasn't trying to debate her technique, only that it was a primitive action that superseded consoling her young.

I have no shame in saying she might be able to take me, although at 6' 4" I have a pretty decent reach and in the few fights I have been in, have no qualms going for a weapon.

How could you formulate such a good response before, and then go low brow with this?

I have done it on several occasions, even in this very thread, and always call ATOT out on being a collective of the quintessential internet tough guys, but you are off base on this one, IMO. Not even going to get into the California factor. She is a piece of shit for why she threw the punch, in my myopic view, her technique is irrelevant to the fact that she is clearly a "loose cannon" and her spawn will learn as such that the best way to deal with chance encounters is primal violence.

Kinda helped a bit he didn't retaliate at all and it was close to a sucker punch, if the skateboarder saw the tyke and thought "fuck it, I'll just run his ass over" than I'd say he had it coming, but this was just an unfortunate accident, scum-bag mom blew it WAY out of proportion and was LUCKY the teen didn't beat her down for that bit of nonsense..

Bitch should not have hit him. It was a stupid mistake, kid probably fine, she seemed more interested in hitting him than checking on her son. Fail.

I agree. The fucking wise and beautiful woman probably had 20 other bastard kids of hers running around unsupervised.

LOL what the hell was that kid doing right in the middle of a skate park? Heck, ANYWHERE in public, for that matter? Should have been within feet of the mom and not in the middle of the place.

Also the skateboarder seemed to feel bad, can't hear what he's saying but I'm guessing he was saying sorry.

I see these two statements as contradictory. You cannot admonish her for a primitive action while freely admitting you that you have no qualms towards primitive actions.

I would hope a moral person would have a qualm about using a weapon.

True enough. I was merely trying to get an upper hand in the situation so that I had control to bring it down to more controllable levels. I was trapped in an already escalated situation and attempting to end it as quickly as possible. In the video, the woman was the aggressor in escalating the situation to those levels, when they might not have been warranted.

I don't think any of us (including myself) are warranted in passing judgement on this situation.

I'll agree with you there. For all we know, this wasn't the first confrontation between these two on that day.

The only thing I really wanted to bring to the conversation was settling the 'Is he in a skate park.' question. That answer is definitely no. If he had been, I would have been on the side of the skater. Now the skater, as the adult in the collision, is much more culpable.

And you did that quite well over 9 hours ago, and I apologized for jumping to conclusions. I think that is the biggest problem with these internet videos that we cannot get a feel for the general situation.

It is pretty easy in certain situations because I am quite convinced a lot of people here have no frame of reference to what a "general situation" is. That is more than likely not the case in your situation, but still I think it is not implausible to consider that some people have either no, or very limited practical experience in this department.

Don't fuck with the cub when mama bear is near by.

Mama Bear should have been watching her damn cub, not letting him run wild.

Notice she was the last one to arrive? She wasn't even close by.

That said, anyone should be able to walk down the damn sidewalk without watching out for an idiot on a skateboard jumping things.

the little kid seriously needs to play some tony hawk

come on man, skill up or get out

So you are a fellow Ohioan, and you probably can't believe that this is a real video, that there are people who actually exist on the internet beyond slitting their wrists to escape the Midwest hell. It is true however, and this kid is enjoying a rare park that is actually populated by people.

I love my Scioto Mile and Olentangy river as much as the next person, but they don't create annoying density like a park in California.

That "mother" is a moron. You don't let little kids run around unsupervised like that and they must be kept an eye on. Look how long it took for her to even come to the kid. She as a mother should be right near him.

This also looks like a skate park so why is the little kid there wandering around?

The skateboarder showed more concern for the kid than the mother who just wanted to act like an idiot. She didn't even console her kid.

She has no right to him like that and he should have fought back. I dare her to try that on me.

i much prefer parks without people! went to a small 400-acre park yesterday and i was the only person there. it was glorious. on a backroad on my way to work. couldn't hear anything but the sound of nature - no cars/planes/people. i walked for about an hour, managed to creep up on 2 little deer and got about 3 feet behind em before they noticed me and freaked out and ran away.

scioto county is pretty great, stayed at a campsite there, but never heard of the scioto mile. edit: lol it's in downtown columbus? nothx.

some places in california are very nice (yosemite/sequoia/redwood), but overall the state is something i can only do for a few days

Wouldn't surprise me at all if this were true. She was the last one to arrive and let her son walk around by himself. This is such irresponsible parenting from her.

Yeah, not a woman you want to mess unless you have no problems really punching a woman. Solidly built too, probably has the skater by 30lbs. If the skater was 250lbs she still would have punched him...no need to mess with that kind of woman.

Surprised so many people bashing this woman for letting her kid run around in a park. lol sheesh, in my day, most kids didn't even have their parents around to watch them 24/7 because they had to work. She shouldn't have hit him because he was obviously concerned and sorry, but it was his fault and its the East Bay. Even the White chicks are tough there, let alone a Latina. Blame the skater or chastise the mother for punching for him, but saying its her fault for letting her kid run around in a park? lol gtfo.

The only thing out of the ordinary in the video was the way that kid was crying. He looks old enough to shake that off...probably being coddled too much. My mother would have said "Stop crying or I'll really give you something to cry about!"

Meh, kids run around a lot, hard to judge her based on this one incident but it's rather easy to judge her reaction as a total nutjob, her son will a terrible role model to learn from growing up, something pisses you off?, START SWINGING!!
