Here are links for the drivers and updated software to allow recording of HDTV and standard def digital TV to your Hard Drive using the WinTV-D card. (Thanks Eric)

ftp://167.206.143.11/latest/untested/Vfw95-98.EXE
ftp://167.206.143.11/latest/untested/Wintv2K.EXE
ftp://167.206.143.11/latest/untested/DTV39data.EXE
ftp://167.206.143.11/latest/untested/DTV39data_relnotes.txt

The read me file has instructions for installation.

Use DTVcap to record.

You can play back these files from within TV2000 but they are still displayed at 480i.

Cinemaster 2000 will play the files back at full resolution. SD 640 X 480 works fine. HD 1920 X 1080 is somewhat scrambled on my setup (3 images side by side). DD 5.1 works if you can get Cinemaster set up correctly.

If anyone finds a software player that will display the 1920 X 1080 files appropriately please let us know. I've tried WinDVD, Elecard, and PowerDVD with no luck.

I'd like to buy one too
PM me.
By the way, does it work for those of you who have geforce 2 and running Win2k?
Regular WinTV had problems with that setup.

So, in other words, theaters suck since they just project the image from way back. Digital TV does not interest me that much. I mean, how much clearer can a cartoon look these days? Alot of the public channels I dont even use cus the bore the shieet out of me. SCI-Fi and pay per view would be a nice conversion but the rest is just not worth the 5-10 thousand dollar price tag that I would have to cough up. In Canada, DTV is broadcasted over satallite (not DSS) so I have no idea on how an antenna would recieve the signal. What I do like is the fact that 16:9 aspect is now standard for these tv's. ALL the DVDs out now are only Widescreen and look like crap on 4:3 tv's.

For realtime display, the board's 480i output is mediocre.

For recording using the ATSC stream, it is "bit to bit" perfect.

There is a free program from Microsoft called "graphedit" that will play back the full resolution digital video files (with AC3 5.1 audio) that are embedded in these ATSC captures to hard disk. If you use software playback like this you get pixel by pixel accuracy with no loss due to recording/playback. With 1080i, this is about 6 times the resolution of Cable TV. The quality is superb. On a 21" hirez monitor it looks close to 3-D.

Playback is smooth on my P3 600 with 640 X 480. Jerky with 1920 X 1080. Prob need a P4 to get 30 fps with those.

I ordered one of these cards too and they have shipped mine. I should be recieving it on Monday accroding to UPS' tracking site.

for some reason i think that jandr is going to charge all of our credit cards again for the actual price or something... I mean how can a company sell these things for way below wholesale prices!? They have probably sent out over a hundred of these cards.... thats more than :Q $10,000 :Q that they might have lost on these? whats the story? why didn't they cancel any of the orders? Why have they taken the price pack up to MSRP? hmmm..... i would really like to know why!

hey guys got a riddler here for you. i got the card and installed in fine on my comp. however, when i connect the cable line into the card itself. somehow, the electric breaker kept on getting trip. i don't know how the cable line could be the cause, unconnect the cable and the comp is back to normal. i don't think i am overloading the circuit at all. strange, anyway, thanks in advance for any input.

I was sorta having the same problem, but I was getting spontaneous system reboots, but only when using the card. That card draws alot of juice (has its own heatsink). My work around is I have a BIG fan I pulled out of a server cooling my system. I replaced that one with a normal fan and problem solved. In your case it sounds like too much plugged into one circuit...

Mine came today also. Going to remove the old ATI TV card and test this one. You must give it to J$R. They filled orders in spite of what appeared to be a pricing error.
