video card advice

I need some expert advice about getting a video card. My budget is $200 and it will mainly be used for graphics and 3D animation. Maybe some gaming, but not as important.

If I had $229 and wanted either TV out and/or 3D glasses, I'd go to Multiwave.com (mwave.com - I have gotten good service and low prices from them.) and I would get:

ASUS V7700 DELUXE 32MB VGA GeFORCE2 CHIP/DDR MEMORY W/GAMES/GLASS/TV OUT(Retail) $229.00


But if really had exactly $200, I'd get:
ASUS V7700 PURE 32MB VGA GeFORCE2 CHIP/DDR MEMORY W/GAMES(Retail) $199.00

ATI Radeon 32mb DDR for about $130.

Thanks for the responses. For my purposes, which is better? The Radeon or the Geforce? and why?

I would have to say the Radeon. In my opinion image quality is better. Gaming performance between the two is nil. The Radeon is more future proof. When more dx8 stuff comes out the Radeon will really start to shine. Plus, for $130 there really isn't much to gripe about.

For games I'd say the Radeon, but for 3D animation(assuming it is not something like Bryce that is CPU-based) the GeForce is best.

I'll be using 3D Studio Max 4 and playing around with Maya (if I ever get it).
