Video card For Recording TV.................

My wife has an idea to record her TV shows to a hard drive instead of VHS..................she was told someone she works with is doing this, and I'm sure it's possible, just wondering which card would be best for this use.......................

OK.................follow up question.................thinking of moving my 9700Pro to my oldest sons system and replacing the whole card on the system I'll use for this.....................would an AIW 9700/9800 or another be a good choice? Not up much on new video card technology.................

If you are going to use the AIW to record TV then it would be a fine choice.

Just remember: You can keep the Hauppage forever. With the AIW, when you want to upgrade to a Radeon 14000 or whatever, you'll need to buy another AIW or an additional TV card.

Get a Happauge PVR-250 it comes with a remote & has hardware encoder unlike the AIW. Also some say the quality of the recording is better with the Happauge.

yah, keep TV Card seperate from video...in the long run, it's the best choice
