Video card Geforce 7600GT

lets talk more about this price drop. how soon would you say? im trying to get my card in the next 2 weeks (heading home from iraq and have every piece i need waiting at home for me)
Im pretty set on the 7600gt, but if those drop in price would others as well? would the next logical step if this does happen to go to a 7800

From what I have read, both ATI with the new X1650XT and NVidia with a 7600 Series refresh could have launches around mid-september.

For example, you can have a look at this recent Inquirer article. The Inquirer are usually right when it comes to release dates of new products, even when they are not about the product itself.

I will be very much surprised if the new mid-range products lines and revised pricing are not available from ATI and NVidia at the end of september, as both companies want to have their offerings all lined-up for the Holiday shopping season

well i see at newegg they have a 7900gs for a lil over 200 and i dont see any performance charts yet on the card would this be a nice lil gain over the 7600gt and like 60 bux more?

The 7900GS they have is a XFX for $ 213. The XFX 7600GT is $150, so the 7900GS is 42 % more expensive. The 7900GS has to be slower than the 7900GT, as it is a "crippled" 7900 GPU. If you look at benchmarks of the 7600GT vs the 7900GT, such as This Summary, it looks like the price premium for the 7900GS over the 7600GT might not be worth it for now, as even the 7900GT is not 42% faster then the 7600GT.

With the imminent release of the new ATI upper-midrange line (X1950 Pro and X1650XT), considerable downward pricing pressure will be put on the competing NVidia products (7600GS/GT, 7900GS, and possibly a new 7650 line).
