video card problems

everything was working fine on my computer until earlier today. I turned my computer on, got into windows and got some message i cant remember from Expertool for my gf4 ti4200. Now my colors are a little screwed up (random icons have funny colors, overall display is blurry, and my tv tuner card looks like crap- i cant do overlay mode and can barely see anything). I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the video card drivers, upgrading to newer drivers, and it still looks like crap. Can anyone suggest anything that might help? Thanks

anyone have any advice, i 've reinstalled motherboard drivers and video card drivers and something is still messed up with the display and i cant run overlay mode on my tv tuner

Corrupt interface files? Did you try reinstalling Windows? No need to format (yet).

is there anyway around reinstalling windows? I dont have my win2k cd with me and wont be able to get it until i go home for thanksgiving since i left it and a bunch of my other cds at home. I've updated my bios, reinstalled all drivers, still the same crap. It almost looks as if its displaying in 256 color mode for some things (like the weird looking icons i mentioned) and just kinda off colored for everything else.

youve tried rightclick>properties and seeing if in fact it is in 256 color mode?

yes, because its in 32bit mode because in 256color everything looks like absolute crap- i cant even tell what the picture on my wallpaper is. Right now it just looks like the colors are off and some icons appear as they do in 256color mode- ie. my winamp icon is just a blurry mess with pixels and i cant make anything out on it.

no, i actually set the clock and memory back to safe mode so its running at 250/444

its actually displaying some things in 16color mode. When i reinstalled all the video drivers and booted back up in 16 color mode, the icons all looked the same way they do when i switch to 32-bit mode. This is why my tvtuner looks like crap, but i cant seem to fix the problem no matter what i do. Does anyone know what could be wrong or am i going to have to reformat and reinstall everything?
