Video card quit working halfway through Windows install

So I was installing Windows on a Dell Optiplex GX270 yesterday with the default hardware plus an ASUS GeForce FX 5200. About halfway through the install (after formatting the drive, copying the files, and restarting), the video card quit working. I couldn't get digital or analog output, or output from the integrated video card since the 5200 was installed. I ended up removing the 5200 completely and just using the integrated video to finish the installation. I tested the card in the same machine today and it worked fine. Any idea why this would happen?

According to the Manual, the best you would have
in that system is a 250 watt PSU and it doesn't even
list what the outputs are on the individual rails...

small desktop computer: 210 W
small mini-tower computer: 250 W

I think the PSU simply shutdown during Windows install
because of the overload (installing Windows is fairly
demanding to your system) with the 5200 installed...

You mentioned "Testing" it after the install but didn't say
HOW...

I'd be willing to bet that if you put any kind of a real strain
on it the system would probably shutdown again... :Q

I installed windows with the same power supply when my machine was a Dell (250 watt) and I had a 7800gs. So thats not the problem.

Yeah, that could be it. I just put the card back in and made sure it worked. It's been in there for a few months, but I don't know how much strain has been put on the system. Still... seems like it would work after shutting off then powering back on, but nothing at all would display.

I don't think it's the PSU. Windows probably installed your chipset drivers during the installation, and defaulted to the integrated graphics. If you had disabled the integrated GPU in your BIOS, it probably would have gone fine.

When you removed the G'Card did you unplug the system...?

That would have re-set the PSU overload breaker... The front
power switch wouldn't do that...

Just a guess...
