Since you are of low income and I presume you may have not much in savings, I'd suggest a 7600GT and put the rest of the cash in to a small investment like a bond or twords a Roth IRA mutual fund. But if you really don't care about it, then an Evga 7950GT for $184 or $164 Sapphire ATI X1950PRO (my pick) after rebate is your best bet.

A 7600GT will give you about 85% of the same performance but for half the price, so it's probably the best price to performance ratio out there. My cousin was gung ho on the 7900GTX but I convinced him the 7600GT was the better buy and he is so happy he went with it.

well. i have a friend at usa who's coming soon to Dominican Republic. He might be able to bring the card with him. So that wouldnt be any problem

Which one? The 8800? I wouldn't be surprised... was that from a local computer store?

Are there any internet retailers in Dominica? If not you're pretty close to the USA, or it might even be worth ordering from Europe if none of the American stores will ship to you.

It looks like you don't know your geography very well. Dominican Republic is the eastern half of the Hatian Island just a few miles south-east of Cuba in the Caribbean.

I assume that if he pays for it and has it shipped to his friend, then it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

If that is how you will get it delivered, then wait until two weeks before you see him to have it sent to his home; because if it's any longer than that, the price will continue to keep dropping. Alternatively you could have it shipped to his home and then ask he to reship it to your place, then reimburse him for the shipping expense.
