I desperately need to upgrade from my GT 640, but I'd like to put my system into a mini-ATX case (currently have a mini-ATX mobo and everything is in an open testbed). What do I need to look out for in card sizes to make sure everything will fit?
Nobody chooses a half-height card except as a last resort. Do some research, like you must have done for the mobo. After you find either a video card or a case you love, buy the other component to fit. Here's an example of a kit that fits your mobo and nearly any graphics card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboB...=Combo.1525549
If you look at the dimensions, it is around 7 inches wide. There are three reasons for this; to fit an ATX PSU, to fit an effective aftermarket CPU cooler, and to fit full-height graphics cards. If you need a slim case and a full-height card, look at this (although it is mini-ITX only and the suggested non-standard PSU, cable kit and low-profile cooler raise the price to $300): http://t.tigerdirect.com/products/8893466
Good luck,
