I like it how, in Tom's Hardware graphs, the fastest card in the table isn't on top.

anyway, i dont know what "ultra" details bring above "high" (maybe more shadows) but you could definately play SCII on most modern computers with high details.

personally, i'm willing to give up shadows and AA for better FPS.

I would never give up either, but there's plenty of other details I could give up in a heartbeat. Staircases don't look like smooth lines, you know. Options for these sorts of things are very good to have .

Performance numbers on maxed settings should be an indication of strength/weakness, not exactly what you will finally get, when playing at detail settings that work for you.

I don't think there is much of a need to complain about performance for this game. Seriously you can play it at max graphics with a 5750 no sweat. This is the kind of game you don't base your video card purchase on because anything will do the job.

I am looking forward to playing Starcraft 2 so ATI better get optimising their drivers for this game or Nvidia here I come!

It's pretty shocking that a 2010 game doesn't allow you to enable AA in-game. I am sure ATI will enable AA through the control panel eventually.

So just an update for you guys.

I decided to go with a GTX 460, bought it today from newegg. The exact model I am buying is this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...20100720095758

I will also be buying a X3 720 to replace my current Phenom 9600 and im going to put the old phenom into a server that im building.

Thanks for the info from everyone. Definately helped alot.

Is your TV 1080p or 720p? If it's 1080p I'd say a 5770, which is what I use for SC2 at 1080p Ultra and it runs well. If it's a 720p then you could honestly get away with something even cheaper.

That should be a big upgrade and a sweet setup for SC2. Make sure you check that your Palit card has a heatsink on the VRM's (or was that resolved?).

From what I can gather they don't put the sink on the VRM on the retail model. It was just on the review (pre release) models. Sites are saying that it's not out of character for Palit to send different (better) models for review than retail. :'(

I'd get an EVGA, personally.
