Video editing software

I am looking for something that will allow me to string various clips together into one and then be able to edit sections out. I've got too much crap taken from my digicam. I would like to take out the highlights and sling them together. Are ther any failry inexpensive programs out there?

I am running Pinnacle Studio 8 and so far so good. It's about $100 so its not cheap but it works great. Using on WinXP pro. Takes vid clips, you can install title screens, add music, then burn it all on to a cdr and play it on your DVD player. I love it when everything works like its suppose to.

Basically you're cutting and joining various parts of numerious media files, right? If so, just use the free VirtualDub as suggest above.

I noticed you mentioned you have a digicam. For the price you can't beat VirtualDub with a stick! If you need some 1394 ports, there's Dazzle DV-Editor SE Video Card DM6200 package for around $35-$45 and Dazzle Multimedia Firewire Digital Video Kit for around $50-$60. Also there's the Pyro ProDVD Video Editing Card and Software package for around $110-$120. Now if you happen to be analog, I would recommend the Dazzle Digital Video Creator II package. It's a little expensive (around $250), but it's hard to beat
