I never used the Ulead VideoStudio, so I dont know how hard it is to use.

I have used Adobe Premiere a lot, I really like it. It is easy for me to use probably becuase I use it often and took a class in it. But like I said in my first post, it cost's a lot!

If you NEVER plan on making money with video editing and it is simply for home movies and to distribute Family VHS tapes during the holidays, then I would go with Ulead, and with the $500 you save, get MORE ram!

Ulead Video Studio 4.0 is very easy to use. Video editing is quick and painless. It also has a lot of cool transistion effects that you just drag and drop into your timeline between clips.

I just got an AIW 7500 and it came with Ulead Video Studio 5. It is a good simple program. I have never used premiere, but would think premiere would have more options and stuff.

If you go to www.rage3d.com and look in the forum there their is a thread that might give more general info. It is geared towards ATI AIW cards, but most of the information is applicable to video editing in general.

WAY cheaper. Version 6.0 just came out, so, you might be able to find version 5.0 for less. The going price for a retail boxed version is around $100. Check here for product info:

I use a great package that if open sourced called VirtualDub

I would definitely go with Discreet Cinestream (formerly Media 100 EditDV2)... It's clean and professional. I have used Premiere 6.0 and Ulead before.

I find that the best one and more reliable has been Cinestream.

I tried it and didn't care for it. You can't encode MPEGs with it. Is there a MPEG encoding plugin for it?

Video Studio is a royal pain in the Ass. and Premiere is too complicated and expensive for a beginner, Virtualdub is free but....

I've wasted so much time with these worthless programs that it's not even funny. Trust me, if you want the holy grail of video editing then Facotry or it's bigger brother Vegas video are the answer to your video editing dreams. I've been using Vegas but they are basically the same, and I've never looked back once.

Save yourself massive headaches and download Video Factory from SonicFoundry's website for $69 add the MainConcept MPEG1 and MPEG2 and your set. If you want an incredible codec install Microsoft's, Windows Media Encoding Ulitilty 8 which will intall the windows media video 8 codecs and will work with factory. and the rest as they say, is history.
