I am considering purchasing a Canon HF10 camcorder which uses Flash memory as the storage medium. I have Pinnacle Studio 11 Plus as my editing software. I have used but do not own the Canon HV30 which uses tapes as storage.
I recently built a new computer with an Intel E8400, 4GB of RAM and Vista Premium 64bit. This computer was able to edit the video from the HV30 without any problems using the HDV standard. I am aware that the HF10 uses AVCHD instead and am wondering if my CPU is up to the task.
Specifically, I want to be able to edit full HD video on my computer. I am reading conflicting reports online about whether a dual core processor can handle it. Can anyone with experience working with AVCHD give me some help?
Will my computer be able to render AVCHD video without dropping frames? If so, will it be able to do so in a reasonable time? I do not mind letting my computer render overnight but if the process is going to take an hour to render one minute of video I consider that unreasonable.
I would appreciate any advice/insight that anyone can offer.
Thanks
