Is there any software out there can test video memory?
I'm wondering because of a couple of things. For the past 3 months I've noticed a data integrity issue when all my drives are in DMA mode. (It may have been longer than 3 months, I just noticed it a while ago). I'm assuming it deals mainly with copying large files across drives, because that's where I seem to be hitting the CRC failures after the copy is done.
I've tried changing cables, swapping memory slots, went from 98SE to 2000 Professional, tried the Intel ATA 6.03 drivers, etc. Today I took my memory (256MB PC133 Micron) to be tested and both sticks passed.
So, what I was seeing in 98SE after I installed the drive cache update was BSODs for VCACHE and VFAT. This was the point I decided to update to 2000 Professional.
I haven't been running with it long enough (only a couple of hours last night before I came to work) to see if it does the same, but I did get crc corruption again.
But I remembered that in 98 I would get window "ghosts" occasionally. I would move the window and it would fail to cleanup as it moved, so all the previous pixels of the window would remain on the screen for several seconds before catching up.
And, if I had the Asus ANVSHELL for my V7700 loaded, it would cause constant crashes for IE, Explorer, just about everything. And even though it has 32MB of RAM on the Video Card, occassionally it would only report 25 when I looked at it in windows.
So, I was wondering if there is any way in hell that my video memory could be causing corruptions of data in 98SE AND 2000. Like I've said, I've tried different ATA/100 cables, and I have 3 ATA/100 drives, so the chances of all 3 drives and both cables being bad is minimal (not to mention I've replaced the cables).
If anyone can give me any help whatsoever, I'd really appreciate it.
