video memory?

here are my video specs just to be clear

2X xfx 6850 in crossfire(obv lol)

these are 1 gb cards. but when i play crysis 3 beta or a lot of other different games MSI Afterburner says im using 1999 mb(example) or something over my so called "limit" of vram. how come i dont get crashes or any problems? i know memory doesnt stack in crossfire so is it just a misreading by afterburner or what? like i said i never get any crashes or slowdowns. for example crysis 3 beta on high plays at around 40 fps give or take, with some AA settings turned down. I know for a fact that if i play on "very high" that will deff max out my vram. so what gives? it says i use more than 1gb on a lot of games so im assuming its a misreading but still it bothers me.

I think it displays the total vram usage.

When it exceeds the vid cards memory, it goes into system memory. If you open your WEI index score details, it will list under graphics the dedicated GPU memory + shared system memory = total available graphics memory, which as you will notice exceeds your GPUs dedicated memory.

ohhh ok gotcha, the only thing that has me puzzled is that in WEI it says Direct X 10...I have a direct x 11 card?

Did you install direct x 11?

I mean I'm pretty sure I did I just installed the 13.2 beta drivers and this is a fresh install of windows.

edit: i did just check dxdiag to check what version i have installed and there it says directx11.
