How long can that animal live without skin on? You would think it would die after being skinned.

I agree 100%. The part I watched before turning it off was absolutely sickening. I think a lot of what PETA says and the way they say it are often extreme but this is a perfect example of why I'm not one of the PETA hating morons who bash them regardless of the issue.

Human > Animal. Don't equate them as being the same thing.

No one gets the death penalty for torturing an animal.

That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. IMO people who do things like that shouldn't be considered human.

Good luck trying to convince the law that. Whether your opinion states that people who skin animals for fun shouldn't be considered human is moot. Our reality reflects that the death/torture of humans is more harshly punished than that of an animal, and your opinion is nothing but the seedlings of vigilantism.

Seriously? Humans have more rights than animals? Are you sure? Gosh, I never would've imagined that.

Stop trying to defend the actions of sick and cruel people. You sound like a freaking defense attorney. :disgust:

PETA staged this for shock value.

Skinners don't work on live flailing animal because it would endanger themselves.

Ok, about 6 hours passed so I wanted to post again in this thread. I thought I'd get over it by that time - but I still can't. This is apalling to say the least. It is by far the cruelest thing I've ever see, short of torturing another human being. Shudders...

Funny, I guess you never watched this video. This video was around long before Peta put it on their website. Skinners don't work on live flailing animals because it would endanger themselves? Did you not watch them chop off their hands and feet and slam them into the ground to stun them?

Hmm, just watched the video, this is a edited version of the video, the original is much more worse than this.

It's a shame organizations like PETA have to use videos of uncommon practices just to push their agendas onto common people who don't take part in such actions.

God. Shutup you twit.

Instead of being disgusted by the video, apparently some people are angry at PETA.

Uncommon practice when millions of animals are killed this way? Im surprised PETA edited a lot of the gruesome parts out of the video.

Name calling, eh?

The video is disgusting, and it's a shame such things happen around the world. However, the average US citizen, and even the average world citizen, doesn't take part in such actions. This is just another example of the actions of a small minority being used to represent the majority. Fortunately, these sort of tactics have yet to be successful for PETA.

How do you know that millions of animals are killed in this particular manner? Do share your source.

Who are you calling twit? He has a perfectly reasonable opinion. Extremist groups like PETA end up doing more harm than good for their cause by alienating the majority of reasnoable, center-leaning people.

Well, unfortunately, I do not have the knee-jerk reactions that you seem to be accustomed to. Everything requires a bit of objective and impartial examination, and your type of edging away from reason ends up with no ground for support, and only your biased, self-serving morality.

I attempted to interject a bit of reason into the conversation. The video was obviously framed in order to appeal to the most unreasonable part of human nature. Although I agree that the video is inhumane and the practices misguided as well as cruel, there is absolutely no justification in rbloedow saying quote, "Any person who would skin an animal while it's conscious deserves the same". Our law system is not based on vengeance, but punishment. The punishment is scaled accordingly to the crime, and our law is pretty clear that humans are more important than animals.

Also, you may diss the "defense attorney" since it's hip and trendy to do so - but lawyers bring more benefits to our society than ills. While our system may not be perfect, it allows for some semblance of fair trial by the state and judging by our peers. Maybe you'll remmeber that next time you or someone you care for has to stand trial for some reason. Maybe "freaking defense attorney" will save your narrowminded ass.

Also, PETA is worthless. The video is genuine, but the entire organization is nothing but sensationalism built on sensationalism. Of course, they get a lot of attention, but they get what all extremists/extremist organizations deserve - sidelining by society, and ridiculed constantly. One video misrepresenting the fur industry is not a good way to show people you are reasonable and thoughtful.

EDIT: It's also pretty clear your 6 years at anandtech forums hasn't helped your arguing or reasoning ability at all. It's a wonder you even bother to post.
