Video Problem

ok well i used to run a XFX 6600GT OC card in my system...well my brother built a computer and he bought a BFG 6600GT with LED...well he doesnt have a widnow on his case so i asked him to switch me cards so i could have the LED in my case...so he did...well at this same time i did a format...becuase i have needed one for awhile now...anyways since then i have not been able to get games to run properley(HL2,CSS,NFSMW,UT2004)....i get about 3 minutes into the game and the whole game just freezes right up...and so does the computer...the only way to get out of it is to reset....now this never happens in windows..but it seems like it happens when the card is under load...my other card never did this...now i have reinstalled the drivers numeruos times...also made sure i have a direct lead to my power supply and not routed through any Y cables and such..and yet i still have this problem...is there anyway i could fix it?...im wondering if it isnt my PSU....but it handled the other card fine...could this card really be pulling more becuase it comes Overclocked from BFG??

I have a bfg6600gt oc as well... excessive heat just causes it to display artifacts. Sounds more like a cpu heat issue to me... or maybe drivers.

Download prime95 and run the torture test for a few hours and let us know how is goes.

make sure

-the fan on the video card is properly connected to the power source and connected to the heatsink well
-the heatsink of your CPU isnt off-center, or damaged
-the fans (of GPU and CPU HS) are working properly and spinning at good speeds (CPU - 2000-3000RPM usually)
-clean the connections of the video card and slot

well i ran the torture test for awhile...and not a single one failed...they all passed.....

i will do what ChonChon said now....see how that goes..
